Hey, I was wondering if anybody has tried this (for weight distribution). I figured I'd do it since I have a big old summer ahead of me and it's free except for the cable. Where do you get the cable (just 2, right?), how long and how much $$? I figure a car stereo place would have them. How hard was it? How did you route the wires? Also, where exactly did you plant the thing? Thanks for the help.
Can't wait to help someone jump their car!
"Aren't you supposed to have them hood to hood??"
"My jumper cables aren't that long."
Or if someone is putting stuff in your trunk: "Can I move your battery?"
"Uhh nooo......"
But really, the weight distribution is the real reason I wanna do this. Really. I guess the new Audi RS6 actually has this done from the factory, pretty cool.

leave it up front. moving it to the back is pointless b/c ITS A FWD CAR!!. Moving the battery to the back is supposed to put more weight on the back right tire which spins first on rwd cars. forget about it, its pointless

Yeah but the thing is, unlike most people on this board apparently, I like driving around CORNERS too, not just in a straight line. Racers and autocrossers move the battery to the back in FWD cars so that they can counteract the nasty 63%/37% weight distribution that our cars have. All that weight up there makes it nose-heavy, and makes the front end push more, which is even worse when you apply the power since it's front-drive.
The ideal weight distribution for handling is 50/50, this is why the S2000 and almost all BMWs are 50/50. Sure, they are RWD, but they are not wholly concerned about 1/4 mile times. They want their cars to handle well. I know my 1/4 time will drop slightly because of less traction, but it's worth it to me in the corners.
My friend's MR2 is mid-engined, RWD. It has plenty of room in the engine bay for a battery, but the battery (and spare) are in the front. Same with the NSX I believe. Yes, they could put all that crap in the back and have a shitload of weight back there and lots of traction in the 1/4 mile. But the cars would be so tail-happy and altogether grossly uneven that they would be crap to drive.

actually im gonna do it . . and we have don it in my friends g2 teg. i have nothing in the back of my car, but a bottle of nos . . when your going fast enough, you need weight in the back . and goignaroung tunrs with too light back = wrecked car, at least almost did for me .
plus i have no room in my engine bay , i have too much shit and need room for other stuff.
the kit will come with all the shit you need but the kill swx. . just bolt it in where the spare would go .

summiy got a medicore type kit for like 40 or something and a higher modle for like 99. its cake dude. its as easy as routing cables for a stereo , the mounting depends on if you want to race or not , i think nhra needs to have it wleded in and you need a cut off swx, which is like another 30
its easy though, and it looks sweet .

Cool, thanks, but that's more money than I'm willing to shell out for it I think. If you weren't worried about racing regs, couldn't you just buy some 12V wire and that's it?
