Hatch won't open

All of a sudden when I try and open my hatch it doesn't budge. When the doors are unlocked and I push the little tap, I can hear a motor turning over, but it wont open. I have no idea whats going on, please fill me in.
thanks

Sounds like the clip part (that holds the hatch closed) is jammed or caught on something. You can pull off the back of the trunk space (the part you take off to change the tail lights) and check it out from there, but it would be pretty tight quarters.

Sorry about the picture size I'm to lazy to downsize them. This is the piece that seems to be messing the whole thing up.

This piece of plastic is not worth $60!!! It pains me to have to shell out that much for it.
