I have a 96 rs with 150k miles on it and i think i have a blown head gasket... anyways....my buddy said if i have the gasket replaced, when they machine the head it is going to raise my comp ratio so much that if i get on it i risk tearing something up in the bottom end? can this be true? If so,what should i do to the bottom end or what can i do for best outcome on low budget....

Its true to an extent but only if you are milling the head. If nothing is wrong with the head they will resurface it and nothing will happen. For instance if you overheated and you warped the head then you would need milling. IF they did it too much it can cause your compression to go up depending on how much they cut the head. You could just go with a slightly thicker headgasket if its really a concern. but dont let your friend scare you. What your friend is saying is a complete exageration of the truth. if the machine shop doesnt know what they are doing then something could happen. IF they know what they are doing you will be fine and can get on it with no problems so dont let that guy scare you he is fucking with you.
By the way you have an rs engine a slight bump in compression wont hurt you. And the compression pump you MAY recieve is not that great. if you get a bump at all.

Yeah as WhiteGSR said, if it's not warped they won't have to take much of to resurface the head. It'll raise the CR a touch, but you'll never even notice it. Now if it is warped, they'll have to take off a lot more.

If this happens get a thicker headgasket and youll be fine.

Nothing... But dont go shaving the head unless its warped. leave the head alone unless you have to shave it. Just let the machine shop resurface it and youll be ok.
Its common practice to machie the head when you are doing a head gasket job, or any other time you have it off. Honda say about 0.005" thousandths should be taken off. It should be okay. Its noted by Honda that you can only do it so many times untill it has too much surface taken of. Don't worry, they have a built in margin of error from the factory.
