I have a 95 GS-R and installed AEM CAI. There is strange noise around 3,000 RPM like the car is blowing it's nose. Not a good sound like you want from performance intake. I can't figure it out and even reinstalled and check all the connections. At first I thought is was the exhast but just replaced with Apexi WS system and not leaks and tight. Also thought it was vibration from pipe rubbing the coolant recovery tanks, made adjustments to ensure good clearance and still has the noise.
Any advice would be appreciated. I will also try to call AEM tech support. The old short, RS Akimoto intake was perfect with no weird noises, only nice sound at WOT.
LOL
im sorry but that is what most newbies say
its fine its just air getting sucked n thats all.
its normal its suppose 2 do that trust me.

I have a sucking/percussive growl about 2800-3300rpm with my car with AEM CAI and Apexi WS, but it's an LS with Crower cams.

Thanks anyway but this is not a normal noise from CAI intake. I have another car with AEM CAI and no such noise. I will remove and reinstall just to be sure.

i can guarantee you that the people who replied and said it is a normal sound/noise is right. i can also guarantee you that on hondas/acuras, the AEM CAI's so called "whistle noise"---at around 2500-3000 RPMS is normal and not worthy stressing about.
your first post almost made me laugh...almost. i've tried several intakes--short ram, cold air, generic or name brand, that "noise" is common and pure. some people like it, since it kind of imitates a turbo spooling and some people hate it, since it annoys them, but to each his own! ive never actually experiened a non-honda/acura equipped with the AEM CAI so i cannot really comment on your second statement...
