Help pls! I did a basic tune-up this weekend and all I did was change plugs, wires, cap, and rotor. After putting everything on my car will not start. It will turn over but it will not start. I checked all parts..and even re-installed the old parts to see if it would run..but to no avail. The car was running before installing the new parts. I inspected the new parts..and see nothing physically wrong. I smelled gas on the plugs..so I believe they are getting fuel. A friend put a volt-meter on the plug wire and we attempted to start it..and the volt-meter said there was no current going thru the wire. Anyone with any ideas as what to check next....would be greatly appreciated. I wanna get back in my TEG as soon as possible!!!!!
First off, detonation is when the air/fuel mixture in the cylinders ignite before the actual sparking of the plug....also called pre-combustion...that is BAD, you do not want that!
Just had to clear that up for you
So, you are not getting a spark at all? Did you gap the plugs correctly? Did you make sure the plug wires are secure on the dist. and the spark plugs? Did you accidentally disconnect the coilpack? Did you install the RIGHT parts?
It is just something simple, I'm sure...

Thanks for the clarification! Well I checked everything you said and checked it twice. The gap is good...wires and boots snapped tight. Another buddy said that it might be the ignition coil???? The thing is that the car was running just fine before I touched anything.

I used to do "no-start" diagnostics all the time, so I hope I can help you out...
Goto the autostore and get a spark tester...if there is no spark, then most likely you have a bad coil. If you DO have a spark, the most common thing is a dirty fuel filter or bad fuel pump. To test a fuel pump, disconnect the fuel line from the fuel rail and then crank the car, if the fuel shoots out from the fuel line, then you have fuel pressure...
It really does sound like a coil issue thou, call up your Honda dealer and give me the part#, and price, and I will see if I can get it cheaper (only take me a couple of minutes to check).
Also, make sure all contact points on the rotor and dist. cap are clean.
Also, we had integras come in to work all the time for "no starts" with a bad dist. to blame....they seem to be really bad about that...better hope it isn't that, because that is not a cheap repair.
If what I told you does not help you fix your problem, you will have to take it to your local autoshop and get a diagnostics done where they hook it up to a computer.

I can usually get about 50-75% off what the dealer charges on some parts....I can get every part cheaper than the dealer charges gaurenteed. I just need the part number to look up a price....but if it cost that much, I would just personally put a MSD "power tower" ($10) on the dist. cap, and run a Blaster SS coil ($35-40). Oh, and don't forget to add the ballast resistor you are suppost to add, or the coil will fry, your car will stall one day in the middle of the road, and your catalyst will be completly fried from running too ruch....trust me on this....it happened to me!

you most likely have a bad igniter. if you have a manual you do not need to hook up to any special computers, etc. simply do the recommended checks and you should be ok.
