Cheap short shifters are known to break, but on the other hand I don't know if I would want to pay a lot of money for a short shifter.

i would say that there is no major difference. i have a DC sports and i like it. the main difference is the distance from the ball/round thing close to the bottom of the shifter and the bottom of the shifter where it hooks up to your shift linkage. the longer the distance the shorter the shift, but if it is too long it will hit your exhaust piping. a buddy of mine has an autozone shift shifter which he bought for 30 bucks and it works just like my DC.
