Red = Power
Black = Ground
Purple = O2 sensor on the ECU, usually the white one, but I recomend using a manual to determine this.

I tapped the red wire into the fat pink wire leading from the ignition. Strip the pink wire and tape the red wire to it securely. You can also use "wire taps" they are more secure and could be found at radio shack.

The balck wire should be in contact with a good ground...and ground will do. I tapped into the radio ground, make sure if its connected to the body, sabd the paint off to get good meta-to-metal contact.

And do what SAK said to make the job easier, tap into the ECU's o2 sensor wire...white definately, but make sure you have a anual with each specific wire color code

A better power would be to use one of the open slots in your fuse boxes. I don't know what they are called, but they are like those ends on speakers that you just slide the connection on. That connection by the fuse box is also an instant power with the ignition so if you turn on your ignition, your A/F gauge will light up automatically!

As for the ECU wire, when I did mines someone told me it was the big fat white wire! Guess what? Whan I popped it open, there were so many white wire and they were all the same size? So the manual comes in handy to make sure you don't tap into the wrong one.
