I just got an Apexi WS put on my car, and I didn't have a chance to weigh the new exhaust before it was installed. I was just wondering if anybody knew how much weight, if any, is generally saved with an aftermarket, 2.25" cat-back? I was just curious because I've heard that a DC stainless header is something like 25lbs less than stock, which is a freakin' lot, so I was wondering if there was a similar change with exhaust systems. Thanks!

Well, it depends on the type of muffler. The Apexi WS has a huge canister, and last time I checked it wasn't that light. Actually, it seemed as heavy as the stock muffler because the dimensions are about the same. An N1 style is lighter. The Tanabe RM was really light, maybe like 30%, and I heard he new Tanabe Super RM or whatever is like 40%. Don't quote me on that though, find someone who has it. As for the headers, yes, my DC Ceramic Headers feel like they are 15-20lbs lighter than the stock cast iron one.
Oh well, too bad. Thanks for the info guys. I like the exhaust, even if it doesn't shave much if any weight.

Yeah, the bottleneck on the Type R bugged me, and I'm too lazy to find a decent muffler shop to cut it off for me and weld everything on (I called all the best muffler shops and none had a mandrel bender!). I got it for $440 installed with tax, not too shabby. It's a little louder than I expected, but I'm glad, it's perfect for me. I had to reset the ECU bad after, my car died like 3 times in the first 3 miles before I could get it warm to reset (it's only died that many times ever in the 2 months I've had the cams). I can feel a little more power, probably more of a difference after header and cat. So yup, I like it. Very deep and smooth tone, but it gets out of the way mostly and lets the intake sound shine when I'm really on it. My favorite part is actually at idle once it's warmed up and all rough and lopey.

i just got the WS installed too and i love it, its like REALLY quiet, almost like stock, but i definately noticed some gains and i havent even reset the ECU yet. i got it for 370 and meineke installed it for free cause i know the guy.
Sweet, don't happen to know the weight do you? I didn't get to fondle mine before they installed it. I love how it looks, the sound level is nice, could be louder but I'd rather have a little too quiet than too loud, intake sound is better anyway.

My comptech weighed about 10-15 lbs. more than my stock exhaust. I used to like my intake sound, now its annoying because at high rpm's it takes over my exhaust note.

Hmmm, that's too bad. I don't get it though, you used to like the intake sound and now you don't like it when it takes over? I love intake sound, much better than exhaust sound for our cars. My exhaust sound level makes it just kinda light background noise when cruising and a nice sputtering burble at idle, but beyond half throttle it's mainly intake, which I think is just perfect.
