how to tell a type r swap?

i mite be looking at a gsr with a type r swap...wat are the ways i can tell if it's really a type r and is there anyway of knowing how much mileage is on the motor?

i noe it has a red valve cover...and i could just check for the b18c5 engraved..but exactly where do i look for it?

also, is there a way of telling if he installed the type r lsd? (the lsd should come with the tranny if he took the tranny from the R correct?)

Well youre on the right track...a red valve cover doesnt really mean anything however and I'm glad you realize that. The location of the engine code is directly to the left of the header about half way down the block....it's very hard to miss. Also, if its a JDM Type R swap, it wont have the "5" at the end...only B18C. Lastly if they took the tranny from the Type R, then it should have the LSD, unless taken out. The easiest way to find out if the car is LSD equipped is to do a burnout...if there are 2 equal length tire marks, then it's LSD equipped...if not the LSD is not there. Good luck...

you can also look for other things like 5 lugs, the other brace in the trunk back by the tail lights... and make sure it has no sun-roof. oh yeah... run the vin number on carfax.

He's talking about a swap, not if an integra is a type-r or not.
