It is true that you can remove the crank from the bottom. In fact, the engine doesn't even have to leave the car . I would assume you start by removing the oil pan, then the lower part of the connecting rods, then piece by piece from there.

You dont want to reuse the bearings too, so get some fresh ones in there, use assembling grease, and make sure the bearings are in there proper. If not you could it quick.

Why are you taking out the crank?

You can do the crank with the engine still in the car if you want but you still need to remove the transmission. The flywheel or flexplate (if A/T) needs to be unbolted seeing as it bolts up to the crank. Your best bet is to just remove the engine and put it on an engine stand so you can just flip it over and work more easilly on it. Make sure that you plastigauge all bearings and journals when you install the new crank, if not the like teg tech said

reason for pulling crank

the reason im pulling the crank is because i fried the bearings and i have a after market crank and rods a friend gave me and i dont know shit about honda motors, all i ever worked on was big v-8s and old big blocks. this is my first ricer, the only person i kno who is into ricers has a rb'ed 240. that is nothing like a 4 banger so we r lost
