idle adjustment

So I found a DIY on t-i.net on how to adjust your idle. My steering wheel shakes
pretty bad so i figured id bump the idle up a notch sisnce it idles low in the first place. So i followed the instructions. At first when i disconnected my IACV the engine died. After I loosened the idle screw some the car would stay running. When i adjusted it more it didnt seem to make a difference. Whats up ith that. Also, does messing with the idle screw affect idle a/f ratio, b/c it seems to be burning a little rich. Any help guys?

from personaly experience, tightening the idle makes it lower, and vice versa, it only worked for me when i disconnected the battery and tweaked the screw then, otherwise it didnt do anything. as for running rich, what signs tell you that? try reseting your ecu so it can "tune" itself to your conditions

well I think i got it now. Its reall sensitive about the computer being on and off at certain times. I got it to idle at about 950 at idle with acc on like a/c and lights, and about 750 without any load.

My exhaust smells alot like gas. It could be because the ecu hadnt adjusted the timing or whatever it adjusts since I havent noticed it b4. But it could also be b/c I was messing with the idle screw if thats possible.
