Mods: So far- I/E/H. Soon to come Skunk2 stage 1 cams and valvetrain, Skunk2 IM.
Depends on what you do in building the motor. What internals are you going to use? What ECU? What kind of tuning are you going to have done. There are mountains of variables. Your redline could be as low as 7k or as high as 8500. It all depends on what you do and how.
Search up LS/VTEC anywhere on the net and here on the forum, you'll find enough threads with part by part instructions.
Your VTEC head in the B16A is around 8000rpm stock I believe, but your longer stroke of the LS bottom end is not meant for that. You could probably get away with 8000rpm in an LS/VTEC if you change out your rod bolts for ARP bolts and ARP head studs as well if you want.
For simplicity's sake, redline in the head is constrained by your valvetrain and when your cams stop making power. Redline in the bottom end is constrained by the rods. That said, the LS all together has a longer stroke than say a GSR or B16A, so it's already set up for lower RPM and more low end torque.
Mods: SR20DET,3" exhaust from the turbo, AFC, Greddy RS B.O.V., CP pistons, greddy head gasket, nismo clutch, tie rods, springs, shocks, vlsd, etc

when you destroke you lose torque. that is the most pointless thing i have ever heard. you want to spend $$$$$ on converting and building an b18b into a frankenstein vtec motor only to rip out the bottem end and spend $$$ to turn it into a less reliable b16? if you're gonna do all that just spend the money and get a b18c1
why the hell do you want to rev so high? having an 8K rpm redline isn't something you do to be cool. there is almost no advantage to reving if your car isn't geared/tuned properly. also think about what it will do to your powerband. honda motors don't rev really high because it's cool, it's because they have no torque and have shit power bands due to their small size. so shorter gears and higher rev's are their bandaid to that problem. the point of lsvtec is to get a better midrange and have vtec without paying the highprice for a b18c1/5
please research before you ask any other pointlessly annoying questions.

he has a b18b to begin with and wants to put a vtec head on it but want's to destroke it so it can hit a reliable 8K rpms? he doesn't need to be touching a motor

lol.
He told me in a PM he's going to put some bigger VTEC cams in, so I'd recommend at least ARP bolting as much as he can, to take advantage of some of the rpms that the cams will make power in.
no you dumb fukc i dont think its cool just wondering if i would have to change my instrument clu clu cluster stupid so before you get smart because you know a little more about cars dont jump to assumptions why i wanna do something cuz now you sound like you wanna just make yourself sound smart by that reply!
There are differences between GSR and LS blocks that contribute to the LS's reduced redline. They have less webbing, no block girdle, and no oil squirters under the pistons. going above 8000 is pretty risky.

lol yea maybe i should chill out i just reacted on the spot it was an annoying reply he did cuz if i do ls vtec i was just wondering if i would need to get the gs-r or itr instrument cluster but its not a big deal we both were wrong

LS Cluster FTW! It's fun going deep into redline lol.
