hi. kinda new around here but was just wondering if i am going to have a problem with inspection. I have a 96 integra with a b18b block and a gsr head. I am using a p72 ecu( I believe)and the harness out of a gsr. my cel is on becase some of the wires aren't hooked up?can I just get rid of the bulb in the cluster or should i try to find a different harness,or should I try something else. thanks
it depends on the state. I know in mass a cel is an auto failure. and you can't just take out the bulb because they hook their computer up to the ecu if its OBD2. is the p72 OBD2 or OBD1?

You wont pass until you get rid of the problem. I think you can get a waiver that has to make the station give you a sticker look into it. The car is 12 years old it cant be that hard to get past this.

God, it must suck balls to have emissions testing.
You'll get it sooner or later. Even up here in Canada, my provincial government just started up their initiative to meet emmissions standards...the rules are pretty typical across the country, and in the US States that are starting to adopt this:
i. No vehicles prior to 96 (OBD I I'm guessing is the cause for this) will be allowed to be imported into the province/state for resale.
ii. All cars must pass exhaust pipe emmissions (I hope this just means they stick the guns in your exhaust pipe, and it's just a Pass/Fail. I don't want to have to stick in my OBDII ECU just for the test, and risk breaking something).
Vic Edelbrock already knows this, and is pledging his millions, and his lawyers to anybody in Canada and USA to fight this new legislation.

As far as I know, yep..OBD-1 is the cause and since he is OBD-1, no emission testing for him...The downside I hear is they tax the hell out of it in an effort to persuade people to get a newer, OBD-2 car.
You have a 96 which is considered an obd2 no matter what ecu/harness you have in the car. Find the code, fix the problem. Taking the bulb out won't make the problem go away since they connect the cable to your obd2 port.

you can still test emissions on a pre 96. it just done differently. the old sniffer up the tailpipe on a dyno.
allright i got a knock sensor error and iac high idle error when i hooked up the code reader and then i reset it it and drove it around i got 2 different ones besides the other 2 how do i fix these 2 that i have. will have to go back to advance to see what the other 2 were. I didn't write the other 2 down
