Integra Type R Project
My friend is going to be attending UTI (Universal Technical School), he wants to do a Honda CRX + DC5 K20 Motor Swap and I want to do an Integra + DC5 K20 Motor project. I have always liked the way the integra looked and after researching a good project to do I decided the k20 would be the best option.
My friend says I would be better off with a crx instead (lighter), but Im also a fan of looks and a civic just doesnt appeal to me.
What do you all think.
I plan to get a decent integra, swap the motor to a dc5 k20 and just do naturally aspirated upgrades. Maybe add a turbo later.

what year integra do you want. unless you find a cheap rolling chassis you're looking to spend 10-14K for the price of the car and swap. but i like the dc2 teggy's i hope that's the one you go with. :-) i think the k20 is a good idea only if that's what you really want. If you're just looking looking for a fast daily driver then the k20 isn't worth it

hey bish! I'm thinking about attending the Avondale campus for Auto Tech...Not the same deal, but lemme know how you're first day goes. Did you have to find your own place and what not? Anyway to the OP, k20's own, but with the amount of money you'll blow on the project performance wise, I could build a boosted b18b that'll own the k20...but then one could argue, that's not fair one's boosted and the other's not! BLAH!, I say. I'm speaking in terms of monetary value

its goin to be wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy Harder to put a k20a into a CRX rather then a integra..
the integra is almost the "EASIEST" k swap car u can work with thats a b series holder..
basically all u do is the wiring harness, axles, shift linkage some other minor shit and bam your done..with the CRX u acutally have to cut out pieces of the frame to make it work and then buddy even then...your goin to have a huge problem that you wont hardly be able to fix, traction...
you think it wont be a big idea...here in louisiana we got a local tuner..used a EK shell stripped it repainted, did the whole nine yards to it..its a clean as fuck hatch, with a 700whp stroked b16 turboed motor, the turbo is a 80trim, sc71 or some retarded shit..why??? why do you need 700hp in a street car..you do realize that now and days...and this goes for a b series as well but in a b/k a good head package with bolt ons will yield you great power with good tuning...gl in your way but i highly suggest you look into the Dc swap rather then a EF or crx swap.

totally good information, yes, i believe K series is the future..
I do also believe that the B still has alot left to contend with the k, and to be honest..with the money you spend on "ACTUALLY" completing the k swap in either a dc or crx..u could have a all motor beast b series that would be great in either chassis...you gotta look at the facts..
full k series swap, is goin to cost you around 6-7k..and thats cheap, that money includes a FULL change over from hmotorsonline, and also includes some minor things, such as gaskets, hoses, and wires..and shit..you wont find anything cheaper then what i told you..
for 7k dude, you could buy your self a jdm gsr..tear it completely down, build it from top to bottem for all motor, probably make a good 230whp and still have money left over to spend on something like nitrous or something..and it'd be alot better then having a K series motor in your car with nothing done...stock its pretty bad ass yes, but a stock motor will only get you so far..

Im looking to spend around 15000 on this project. I really want the K20 engine, I saw a real nice one on EBAY for 5k and it came with tranny, ecu, hoses ect. I want to spend about 4-6k on the car, get a paintjob if necessary, swap the seats out and strip it out. Maybe add a turbo and some carbon fiber pieces (Hood, Trunk Lid, type R wing). Im still gonna have my bmw as a daily beater the integra is just going to be for thursday/sunday cruise nights and to race it at tracks for $$$

umm then go for it but what are you hp goals because if you just want a really fast car. you could get a built h22a from japan and they are 220hp factory. but you do realize the 15k you spend atleast 7-8K of that will go to a stock kswap and you haven't even started to build the motor yet. 8k towards a bswap or hswap will et you a built motor and swap and the ret you can blow on suspension (more important tha hp btw) and cosmetics. but the k20 is nice jut think about what you really want and your goals before you blow the $$$$$$$$$4

I was looking at a used h22a engine, couldnt find a built one. I heard the k20 is alot lighter and im going to be building this car while attending uti in houston next year.
To the car I believe it would be more worth it to fork the extra cash for a better stock engine that would yield more power overall. Who knows im not set on a project yet. Im still looking at other options like a 240sx with an rb26 or rb28 or a Supra. The most cost efficient I believe would be a teg with a dc5 k20 swap + Upgrades (Tein Susp, Greddy Turbo Kit, Exhaust), and the K20 comes with a reprogammable ECU, all you need is a laptop and the program from hondata.

I've been toying with the idea of swapping a k20 into my 2000 Integra GS, still don't know enough about. Plus I probably couldn't start untill sometime next summer. By the way anyone know a rough estimate of the weight of a k20 vs. any B motor?

they don't way that much more and you can get a jspec h22a and build it for cheaper than a kswap. kswaps are nice but unless you want bragging rights or you are super serious about professional racing it's pointless to waste the money. you would have a fully built motor capable of just as much hp and linear power as opposed to a stock motor. i'm saying that the 15K won't be enough to swap and suspension if you don't plan on doing 75% of the work yourself. jspec h22a is 220+ ponies, jsut imagine that shit built to your liking. you can even do a b18c1 swap bore and resleeve to 2.0 liters fully built internals nice linear power and a sick redline with high CR. or you can get a stock k-motor for 8K. you choose all 3 are really nice motors.

hmm besides the fact that it's fwd, and on a motor that small you're looking at most of it all being topend. the only place you could use it would be the highway. you couldn't use that car to it's full potential on the street. 700whp on almost anycar is too much power. but fwd is probably the worst platform to have the much hp on a street driven car. you'll have a big ass turbo not making boost till what 5500 rpms and you'll be hitting 700whp by what 8,500 plus rpms. that's fine for a track i guess but i wouldn't wnat that
