When I had sr20det red top in my old 240sx gsr swaped eg hatchs would eat my lunch and even worse on the highway. sr20det swaps are gay you should have just boosted ka24de or gotten a rb swap. Speeking from expierence

you probably couldn't drive  . j/p ka24de are good boosted until you want to make more than 300whp then reliability really becomes an issue. yeah yeah i know everbody knows somebody who made 400whp on a ka24de. i prefer proven boost as opposed motor not designed for it. best stock internalled boosted sr20det is 529whp. ka24 are ok for low boost. i've already raced an equally modded ka24det in the same 1989 chassis and it was over by the end of 2nd gear. not to mention the sr20 is so much smoother. yeah it doesn't have the raw torque of the boosted ka24de then again that's comparing a stock motor to a modded motor. i would get an rb25 swap but parts are an issue for me ka24de and sr20 have similar potential it all comes down to preference. but this argument has been going on for years. to call either one worse than the other jsut shows lack of experience in building motors to begin with.

Ive just had sr20 horrors my self build 3 sr20s 2 of them s15 black tops(6 speed tranny is poop) rb was fun tell I got overboard and went for a twin turbo set up and not enough knowledge lol sr20det is a good motor though if you got a s13 red top I would get a s15 head on it, it did wonders when I had to mix match shit. I was more into drag racing though friend in a ka24det ran a 9.8 with a/c and p/s when my rb with single turbo set up ran a 11.9 pretty much stock just boost controler and foger system. Good cars though cool to see sombody thats in to honda building a 240 to  mad love

s15's are junk. they are good to be left stock but if you want nice reliable numbers why waste your money on s15's s13 redtop or black top is the best IMHO. no vtec bullshit or varialbe cam timing. if you lke pure drage then the ka24de is probably the best overall motor when on budget. if you had limitless cash then rb26dett all the way. twin t2871r upgrade and some head work with ems and make sick numbers. the next honda i get will be merely a daily driver with the usual boltons. waste of money if your ultimate goal is to have a fast streetable reliable car.

$4000 aint that bad........ If you want a k20 I would still rather have b18c type r with some NAWS and ITBs

i know some one that got a k20 type S for 2500 with evrything from some junk yard in mass. but thats like a onetime deal type thing im hopin i can get lucky too.

you too could get lucky. you just have to be patient. and be sure to have the money ready to be forked out, ya know? I know of many ppl who have gotten sick ass deals on k20 swaps. Did you hear about that guy on here the FOUND a k swap at a shop, just laying out in the middle of nowhere? lucky dude...paid a total of 0.00 for it...lol

well how long ago was this and where. i doubt the k-hype we be very big in lets say providence rhode island 2-3 years ago vs lets say california or new-jersey. They probably didn't know what they had. i wish i was fucking lucky to find a rb26dett in a junkyard for 200 bucks. Kind of how paul walker found a mint condition R34 GTR skyline at a used car lot in the 2nd gay and the furious
