itr tranny or not?
wuz up all, someone is selling me a "jdm itr" tranny. He says that he cleaned up the tranny, and the cleaned off the lsd stamp with some simple green(degreaser) and a wool brush(the tranny does look to be cleaned up). What i wanted to know was how can i tell if its a real itr tranny. It has s80 sticker on the tranny. He was saying something about looking at the hole where the axles goes, and u would be able to see the lsd or something like that? I read the sticky already....so is there anyway to identify if its real or not with out taking the tranny apart. any feedback would really be apppppprrreeeciiiiattted.

Cleaned the LSD stamp off with Simple Green?! Bullshit.
If you pull the axles and you can see through a hole in it, it has an open diff. If it is closed and you can't see through it, it's an LSD. Either way, I wouldn't buy from this clown.

I didn't know they had an LSD sticker, but like White98LS said, it doesn't have an LSD if you can see through the axle holes ("open differential"). Do you trust this guy? For how much is he selling it?

S80 just means it originates from an Integra..it won't tell you if it has an LSD....
i was under the impression if you look through the hole on the tranny while its off the car and you can see straight through it, it means it has a lsd in it..

I agree completely. Either he's to stupid to know what it is or he's trying to rip you off. I'm thinking it the later....

I guess 1k is a decent deal for a used one. A friend of mine bought one brand new from Honda for $1600.

lol it's all G =P glad you had fun! haha...
Syn Inside03 - yup, that's correct. if you can see it just like the picture, you have a lsd.
it's so hard to buy something used, esp. from a person that you can't trust off the bat. they could've added another type of lsd, or something. finding a real deal jdm itr trans isn't hard, it's the place you buy it from...gotta pay to play. i got burned a couple times trying to save money :/

good price...hmm, dunno.
try the guys at passwordjdm...
i know if you go to HT there's ton of for sale trans too. hard to say what's real or not, but i'd buy a trans from a reputable place
OR you could just use your existing trans and upgrade it with an aftermarket LSD

I thought if you looked through it and it was open it was a non-lsd tranny...hence the term..."open differential"
Correct me?
