JDM ITR LSD into LS transmission

I have been researching for a while and finally ordered an Integra Type-R LSD and 4.4:1 final drive gear for my LS. From what I have learned, I believe all I still need is the countershaft from the either thetype-r or gsr trany so everything will work. I just want to make sure this is everything I need before I pay someone to install everything and find out I am missing something.

Also i am having trouble finding the countershaft, so if anyone knows where I can buy this item, please let me know.

hmm. i thought the ITR LSD wont fit the LS tranny cuz the differential size for LS and gsr/itr is different. Anybody else can clarify that?

He needs the full GS-R/ITR final drive kit for it to work. The only reason the ITR LSD wouldn't fit is because of the FD ring gear bolt pattern, so you swap the FD and there you go.

You didn't mention new carrier bearings or a set of shims, do you have those?

I don't have the carrier bearings or the shims, yet.

I did read about the shims, but i don't know which to get. Plus, aren't shims the types of things shops have to do installs, or do i need to buy them and bring them to be installed?

Should i just look for these items from OEM honda parts dealers?

Gotta get the carrier bearings. For the shims, why don't you just call the place you're having it installed at? I did it with a mechanic friend, so I bought a selection of 5 of them within the range of about 20 different sizes.

I dont exatly know what you mean by the carrier barrings. Looking in my repair manual, it does describe the differential carrier, and bearings on eitherside of the diff, but i dont see any mention of carrier bearings.

Also, do i need the gsr carrier?

Argh I can't find them on acuraparts247.com, and I can't remember the name of the guy at which Acura dealership I got them from. Try a search on H-T and you'll probably find them.

I suppose this is a n00b question, (but I am one), will the LSD fit the GSR tranny? Or are the FD's still diffrent? Or do the LS/RS GSR and Type R's all have diffrent trannys?

Are you refering to the differential bearings that go on each side of the diff.? If so, those were kind of expensive and not reuseable.....

Did you read what I wrote?

All 3 have different trannies.

ITR LSD fits into GS-R directly, and LS with a GS-R/ITR (they are the same) final drive (full kit).

Yeah, you need to pull them off and stick them on the new diff. It's possible to re-use them, but usually they are muffed up when you take them off, and you want to upgrade from the tapered ones which some trannies had to the newer roller ones. You're in there so might as well do it. They are like $40-45/ea.

Yeah, they are those big fat ones on the end. There's one on the side you see (axle side) and another on the other side (tranny side).
