jdm style 4-1 header on 01 gsr
im planning on purchasing a megan 4-1 jdm style header with 2.5in collector.
my vehicle is a 2001 gsr
i havent decided on what exhaust to run tough
what will i need to bolt the jdm 4-1 header to my stock set up?
then later on if i run a 60mm diameter cat-back what will i need to bolt up to it?
thanks

to use it with your stock setup you'll need to have a 2.5'' collector welded to the cat. you can retain this cat when you upgrade exhausts. it wont be the best flowing thing but it'll work.

but all the lenghts will line up
and if i did go with a 2.5 in cat
can it be 2.5 inlet and outlet or does the outlet have to match my exhaust ?

as long as you buy an exhaust for an 00-01 gsr or 94-01 ls/gs everything will line up.
ideally, you want to keep the exhaust the same size all the way back to prevent bottlenecks.

here is what im thinking for a set up
megan 4-1 jdm style header with a 2.5in collector
to a
obx resonated test pipe or car sound high flow cat
to a
2.5in or 60mm(2.36in) cat back maybe going with the itr, or the ws2 something quiet that will provide a little back pressure.
any comments?

I think there is another pipe connecting the header (lower part) to the cat.

Sounds like the ideal setup for your build, go for it.

you could get an exhaust for a 2/4 door non vtec civic, i have one laying in my garage, i matched it up to the integra, turns out it is long enough to reach the back of the header, deleting the cat. all youd need is a couple of o2 bungs welded in.

All you need is the correct donut to match it up to the stock cat.
Megan headers are somewhat a hit and miss. Some people report cracks and bad welds and improper fitment. Others say its fine. Its basically a replica of the JDM header.

i apprciated that any one else have a comment on that.
as far as megan being hit or miss. the problem post i hear about them are getting less and less as the years have gone by. i think they are getting better. plus like stated above its just another jdm 4-1 replica so the performance has been proven over and over

as for the exhuast, the greddy sp2 is a very nice exhaust for its price. not to mention quiet but down right mean when you step on it. i just got mine recently and love it! its a 60mm...

yeah i've been thinking about the sp2 some other choices i had in mine are the apexi ws2 and also the itr cat back
i might have a itr cat back lined up for like $100 so that might be the one even tought i would like a straight trough quite exhaust like the greddy

from what i've heard the ws2 is very similar to the sp2 just costs more cause its an apexi. the type r's would be nice, especially for $100! but if you are willing to spend more, go with greddy, you'll get your money's worth, believe me!

Why get a 60mm (2.36") exhaust when the header is 2.5"? Step up the size.
