Ok so I used the search function and never found anything....
I swore I seen it in a thread somewhere....
Anyhow, my girl's 96 GSR has a problem with the an jumpy idle.
This would happen while sitting at a complete stop. The rpms should normally stay a little under 1k but it seems that on her car it dips under it then ramps quickly back over it.
Also, when in 2nd gear, at about 20mph, when I let go of the gas pedal the car would jerk back and forth.
I remember someone mentioning a Idle valve or fast idle valve. I was just wondering where it would be located and how you would test it?
The 2nd gear thing sounds normal actually, especially if you are letting off the throttle sharply rather than gradually, it's just part of the driveline, an annoying part. How low does the idle dip down to?

sounds like maybe a vacuum leak, and i thing that the throttle position sensor can couse that to happen. and the thing with second gear isn't normal, when you fix the idle problem the jerking of the car when u r drifting should go away. good luck.

there is a screw by the intake manifold that you can use a flat head screwdriver and have sumone in the car to let you know wen the idle is down then just leave it there close ya hood and go and burn sum rice lol

Sometimes it goes all the way down til the engine dies.
A buddy of mine also mentioned that it could be a bad
IAC (Idle Air Control) valve...i think thats what its called.
And the deal with the 2nd gear, Im pretty sure that both problems are related.
I know what you mean about the driveline but this jerk is REALLY noticable. You could spill some coffee over it.....

I drive a 1990 Acura Integra GS and lately its been pullin the same shit with me, like Start it up and it'll idle around 1000rpm for a few seconds, and drop down. I'll have it in neutral and I'll rev it up to around 2-3000rpm's and then let off the gas completely and the needle will drop all the way below zero and stay there, but the engine is still on, I mean it sounds like the idle is actually dropping excesssively and it isn't just the tach playin with my head. but it still drives good for now, and still seems okay enough, but I'm wonderin if it could be the ICV too, though its a fresh B18A engine and tranny..... I guess I'll just have the pros up at acura look at it. but any thoughts?

Thats of no help, my car always starts. and secondly I REVVED the engine with my foot, and thirdly after I reved it it dropped BELOW ZERO....The TACH needle dropped below zero, that said it should idle around 650-700rpm or so, well my car might be idling there, but the tach is sitting below zero. but when I put it in gear and am driving the needle moves like it should but I don't know how accurately, thanx though islandboy, I still don't get it

Question to you guys that are having the problem. Did yo guys disconect your battery or pulled your 7.5 back up fuse? If you did it could be that you erased your computer memory and has to relearn your driving style again. Second, you can take off your fast idle valve and there should be a bolt that often backs out. many times tightening that bolt back down can fix that problem. Before you do that I would reccomend to check for any disconected vacuum hoses.

check yo distributor... this usually happens when there is a loose wire within.. how many miles are on your car and is your distributor the original?
