Just Bought a Gen 2
Hello all,
I am new to this part of the forum and just got a 90 LS Hatch. It's an auto, but the tranny is going out, and I have already started removing it. I plan to toss either a CTR or ITR manual tranny in, but am aware that this car is designed for a cable operate clutch, and not hyrdalic. Is there a write up on this conversion anywhere. I tried to search but not finding much info. Thanks for any help.
Dan

I'm really not too worried about doing work, I have wanted a project car for some time, found a rust free car for 125 dollars, and would love to make a sleeper that no one expects, seems to me a 90 would be a much better choice then something newer. As long as it performs as well or better then say a 94+ when I'm done, I could care less about the year.

Ohh kinda off topic but i was looking at a 95 teg ls yesterday and its engine looked really dinky compared to mine, What engine do they have a b18b1 or somethin? and I've always thought my car had really short gears. First gear last about 2 sec at fulll throttle and at 80 mph in 5th im doin like 3800 rpm. just seems kinda short to me.
nice buy.. sucks that its an auto.. you dont have to get a CTR or ITR tranny.. juss try to find a B16A Cable Clutch Tranny and that should bolt on to the LS, in other case.. thats the only problem right?..

I want a Helical LSD, and would think it would be the cheaper route to go with CTR or ITR first instead of going with something else, then adding a Quaife, correct me if I'm wrong.
Dan
Dude pick up a 1st Gen B16A cable transmission and order a Quaiffe LSD if your planning on keeping the DA. I have a DA but I'm just running the manual LS transmission in it on my CR/VTEC because I don't plan on keeping this engine in the Integra, I plan on pulling it getting an ITR transmission and dropping it into my 1993 Civic Hatchback. Good luck with the car, get pics

waoh sounds like alot of work. id just try to find another auto tranny for ur car. Its a 90, do u really want to put that much work into it?
Dude I put a shit load of work into my 1990, hell yours is a 1991...whats your point. Picking up the conversion shit for the Auto-manual conversion would be cheap for it, and I think well worth it. DA's are fuckin bad and they need to be built and preserved the right way.

I have learned that it's a major ass pain to do a hyrdo conversion in the gen 2... but an option is putting ITR tranny internals into a cable tranny case. We shall see what happens. I will get picts up soon, my friend is borrow my digi cam.

Mikey the 1st gens were lighter, but had primative suspensions and sucked and had small engine bays. But yeah major PITA to do hydro conversion, just get a B16 cable type trans I'm telling you, and put a helical LSD in it from quaiffe. Actually sell that DA and buy a stick shift DA.
