Just ranting about my luck

I was driving yesterday with my buddy when I passed the street I wanted to turn on. No big deal I went up and yanked a U and got on the gas. Right as I picked up the throttle I hear what sounds like a belt pop. I look down at my cluster and sure thing the battery light came on. I go to pull over in a parking lot and instantly the car stops running. Ok the alt belt went so I think that the battery died and that's why the car did. I was wrong. I changed the belts and the car wouldn't start. We checked spark fuel everything and then my buddy decides that we should pop the dizzy and look at all that. I noticed as soon as we did it that I should check that Timing marks on the underdrive. TDC for #1 was off on the rotor so I took a deep breath and popped the Valve cover and sure as shit when the alt belt went it got wrapped up behind the main underdrive pulley and wove its way into the timing cover and thrashed my timing belt. I pulled a few pieces of what used to be alternator belt out and saw that the timing belt had not only been eaten up but was three teeth off. I live in guam so I had to order all the parts to replace the timing belt and now while I'm waiting for the parts to get here I am hoping that the timing wasn't far enough off to endanger my valves. On the upside though the cams looked impeccable for having 84 thousand miles on em. Not a mark. If you read this I pray nothing like this ever happens to you.

Sounds like you did everything correctly. Just make sure you do all the post "timing belt fiasco" steps, get those cams set back to normal and hope to hell your valves aren't bent.

Yea I'm pretty sure that's it. The downside is the car is down for a while til the parts come in. The upside is if the valve train is jacked the I have the excuse I've been looking for for my wife to allow me to rebuild this thing I'm not as mad anymore it's jsut a crappy situation.
