Konig Twin loop muffler

I saw this twin loop muffler at the Konig website called Mozart Evolution.

http://www.konigwheels.com/catalog_p...TION%20MUFFLER

I was wondering if anyone had information on this muffler. I need a 2.5" in/out.

Muffler

I won't do it. I do not understand why would you want to do that. A regular muffler would do same or if not better.

I wanted something quieter, yet free-flowing.

You are interested in a true 2.5" ID catback?

Why?

And you state you are interested in a twinloop as well as something with quieter performance?

Then you should take a look at Hytech. This is a REAL 2.5"ID Performance Catback system.

Heres the link to their site: http://www.hytechexhaust.com/

Contact John, Tuan knows him better than I but, from my conversations with him last year I have to tell ya he knows his stuff. And after you browse his site you will become very aware of just how performance realted his work is. NOT just for Fashion, Looks, or Sound!

So again out of curiosity, what are you running that you need a true 2.5" cataback? How much WHP is your car putting out?

Good luck,

A.

Update: I just spoke to a Rep from a local shop who deals with Konig and Mozart. He stated that the Mozart twinloop is no longer in production. It was last years and there may be some left at other shops but it is no longer available from Konig/Mozart at this time.

He also stated that the ID was not 2.5" but rather closer to 2.25".

So that counts that one out unless you are interested in finding a leftover.

Hi, thanks for all the replies...

I'm running a mild NA setup Mild NA setup with ZEX 55 shot ok?

But I want to add a zex kit. I also want the 2.5" because it defeats the purpose of getting a jdm header if it tapers back down to 60 mm or 2.25".

I'm aiming for a conservative 200 whp with this setup.

The Kakimoto R that you listed in the link to post is a good choice. Why are you thinking of something different?

I want to be clear here, This setup is for a GSR correct?

Although you have a nice setup, you do not make enough WHP consistantly to warrent a 2.5" catback.

The NOS will probably push you over the 200 WHP mark but remember that will only be for brief moments and not really require a bigger diameter exhaust setup all of the time.

A nice well designed 2.25" catback would be more than ample at this time.

Remember that:

2.25" piping for 210 flywheel HP or about 185WHP
2.38" (60mm) for 235 flywheel HP or about 200 to 207 WHP
2.5" 265 flywheel HP or 225 to 230 WHP

For your daily N/A setup you'd probably be looking at the 170-18- WHP range. Now the NOS will certainly boost you into past the 200WHP range but, only for those brief moments that you are squirting and not really require or even demand a 2.5" catback. If you consider doing a hot cam setup and more tuning and upping compression, you may get to the high 180's but still not require the bigger diameter piping.

Also important to note is that you need to assemble a catback with the largest diameter piping for the free'est flow While maintaining optimum Exhaust gas velocity and proper resonance effect. You of course do Not want Any back pressure but, I think you get that already?

In short, a good idea is to get a baseline dyno run. And then again after adding everything for tuning. After the second time you would have a better idea of where you would be for the Fly HP and WHP and would help you decide which catback to choose. As well after you added the catback you could retune NA and with NOS for even more gain.

Good luck,

A.

1greyteg,

Thanks for the figures. Since SHO went down and we lost the tech archive, I have been going off memory (which doesn't work all the time). Do you know if the 2.5" figure for 225-230whp is OD or ID?

The setup is on a 2k GS-R. The only reason I want to change the muffler is because I wanted something quieter for daily driving without the use of a silencer. It's not really for a performance oriented reason.

I am currently rethinking my setup. I realize I can only tune the car to work best with either NA or FI. So I guess I have to make a decision here since the cam gear settings, fuel settings, ignition timing, and vtec engagement point would be very different.

Thanks for the help.

Your welcome, no problem...

Yes those figures are for ID.

Remember also that when you start seriously looking at Turbo, or SC you would benefit from a 3"... A good 3" is the Thermal or even a custom SMSP. Just some food for thought.

Good luck, and let us all know what you decide and how it all works out.
