looking to buy a integra

yeh, my crx maybe sold in a few days. considering this beign my third crx i kind of got the ins and outs of what to look at when buying a crx. but even then i missed out on some huge stuff when i was buying this car just for the fact i wanted the si trim soo bad.

but now im looking at buying an integra. i want a 99+ GSR because some of the 98s had the cloth interior. i want a clean interior, clean exterior. no accidents that kind of chit.

I used to own a 99 LS, brand new from factory but sold it long time ago to pay med school. ever since then i was like im going to get another integ one day. at the time i still had a crx so i got another crx didnt get tired of it, but just feel that too much work to swapping motors and what not.

so im not looking to swap out a motor right away esp b18c1 motor. if anything probably build it up for a turbo if its been ragged.

so whats the list on what i should be looking at. any key spots on integras that are prone to breaking, or i should ask the owner more about. I may even goto a dealer to buy an integ. esp if i can find a type R.

should i consider a type R over the GSR. right now im looking at no, but if i get a type R at a good deal i dont think i can deny it. im also looking to finance if im getting from a dealer. waht you think payments will be like? im tryin to stay around 240 since thats what the payments on my first integra were.

allright this is severely long allready.

what do you want to do with the car? the gsr will be the more comfortable daily drive, but the R might be worth looking into if you are actually going to race it (i don't mean drag).

i don't know what to look for, but i'm sure someone with a 99+ will be by soon enough with some pointers in that area for you.

Some people will probably tell you IF you plan to go the turbo route then a GSR wouldn't be the best choice; most will try to point you the way of an LS due to the fact its better to turbo. If you like a "clean" interior why not go with a GS? Its almost like a GSR minus small things and the motor obviously. What plans do you have with teh car?

As for getting a Type R, most integra guys around here will say go for it. Great car to auto X with, just a nice machine in general. But even making payments and then insurance on top of that, its not going to be no CRX. if you do go that route prepare to pay higher rates. But of course you already know that.

Good luck.

i didn't bring up street racing, did i?

if you're going to auto-x it, the R will obviously have the superior suspension and can take on many contenders bone stock, given you are a good driver.

if you're going to boost it, look to spend more time and money tuning and building an R or even a gsr to run moderate to high boost safely. this is not to say that they aren't good candidates for turbo, just that it needs to be done right. there are quite a few threads in the turbo forum with info on boosting integra motors.. which motor everybody thinks is best, the basics of building each for boost, etc.

an aftermarket turbo kit will likely put you in a tough class for auto-x though. maybe something to think about.

thanks for hijackin my post

just kidding. yeh jason like you said the integra R will be no crx in the insurance side

clayton i know you didnt bring up street racing but you asked what my plans were, and that was just some background info leading to future.

im still up in the air, and by the ways of describing how to "boost" integra motors especially with the build process, im not sure if i can have that long of downtime on a car. maybe if i had another car as a daily driver.

but im only looking to own one car. id like to keep the crx and work on it, but not feasible.

ive looked around and im seeing 99 gsr's at some local dealers for around 6k. but the condition is so poor i almost puked when looking at the interior of one.

nothing like owning a new car and keepin it new yourself, i hate to buy a piece of shit again from someone else and trying to restore it. considering thats all ive been doing with the crx's

it seems to be in good shape and it was driven by a 22 yr old girl who doesn't seem to be an aggressive driver at all.

i'm going to see it monday but what should i look for in the car?
