Looking to get a little more Top end power in my 96 gsr?

Hey guys I have a 96 gsr with cai,4-2-1 header,hi flow cat, stock exhaust, stage 1 clutchmaster clutch, and a fpr.I love my low and mid range power but I'm lacking top end.I'm asking what I can do to get a little more top end power without hurting the low and mid range that much.thanks for any advice you can give me.

really, its almost one or the other....so you're basically gonna have to choose if you want top end or low end....and you need more info, decide what you want then choose your parts...your setup now is for midrange basically so it doesnt promote top end breathing....anyhow i would ditch the CAI and get a short ram, or just make your owm with some 3 inch plumbing and a big k&n, it will help your car breathe more at the top end...

Cams is the answer, either ITR or skunk2 stage 1 cams would do you good. Since you don't want the power to high up in the rpm range.

Exhaust will help a bit. I think you should get that before cams, cuz it's basically restricting everything else.

Haha! Redo your motor! Build that sucker up!

Seriously though, how much more do you want in the high ends? With a custom full exhaust setup from Hytech or SMSP, you don't have to sacrafice low end for top end. You get both.

Here is an example of the Hytech Header VS Comptech Race Header:

So you see, if you're serious about power gains, get something worth your every penny. It sure won't gut your low end for high end. No sacrafices here.

It better be worth every penny, since you'll have to pay every penny you have... A Hytech header is around $1300.

Get ITR cams, skunk2 intake manifold, and convert the car to run a chipped p28 to increase your top end without sacrificing mid-range. ITR cams have better mid-range than the skunk2 stage 1 cams.

The dyno speaks for itself. The HP and torque numbers own every other header it was tested against. Plus I personally know people with these exhaust. Not only do they do their job, but are quality built as well.

How much money are you willing to spend for more punch in the higher powerband?

A custom Hytech/SMSP exhaust can put you back a couple grand, let alone the time they need to fabricate it.....Ive seen ITR cams go for 5-700 for a used set. It all depends on your financial standing. So think in between your means....

Good Luck
