My buddy cheaped out (about $250) on lowering his Civic Si. The ride was so crappy and bouncy that it made me nauseous. Every bump the car went up and down at least 3 times, looked like we were driving a pimpin air ride competition car. The bouncing broke the hood latch cable, and the tire rub totally crapped up in the inner fenders.
That said, I don't know what a good suspension upgrade costs, or lowering, he might have just made a bad deal. But it goes to show you never should cheap out on your suspension.
That's why I'm still driving my Teg monster truck with its 'holy wheel gap batman' attitude.

your cars suspension is very important if your going fast on cheaqp spring bouncing all over the place your gonna crash. i wasnt even going fast in my teg and since my rear shocks were shot i spun out and crashed, so do your self a favor and save up.

I put ground control coilovers on my stock DB8 struts. I didn't have much money either as I am 17 and this is my first car. They ride real good, I didnt completly dump the car though, just tucked the wheels in a little. It was a good deal.

I went with an ebay coil over with an KYB GR2 on my 94LS w/ stock 14's and am learning from my mistake. It feels like a pogo stick and since I slammed it I have a hard time getting around town. Spend the money the first time or DONT DO IT. My suggestion is to wait until you have the cheddar ($). If you got to go low you will have camber problems i.e. more money.

NOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!! not again. i just responded about this same shit. cheap is not good, or reliable, or fast or anything else for that matter. get yourself some kyb agx's or tokico illumina's or spend some bux on some koni's and get you a good set of lowering springs or some ground control coilovers. end of story.

you will spend close to 200 bucks on just springs alone of decent quality, another 400-500 on decent struts. do it once, do it right, dont go the cheap route.

Save your dough until you can buy some deent suspension.
Get KYB shocks and Koni springs, seen this setup numerous times and it kicks ass.

Koni doesn't make springs, so it can't kick ass. I think you meant Koni shocks and KYB... nothing.
Koni shocks with Neuspeed or H&R springs, or Ground Control coilovers, are high-quality and popular setups that can give you both comfort and performance.
