LS w/b16

sup pplz....i had a 94' civic wit a JDM B16a not too long ago but had to sell it...now i have a 94' integra LS.....i don't want ls vtec because its too hard to maintain....i know the LS has potential because I also had a 91' integra wit a J1 tranny and a B20 Block....Anyway, I seen this dude with a teg w/ B16 and it ran pretty nice....Yes I want a GSR motor but its out of my price range and a B16 is in.....So does anyone think its ok or think I'm stupid for trying to swap a B16 in my teg? I tried to make this thread as detail as possible so it would be easy to answer without suggesting LS/vtec, GSR, etc.... thanks

B16 is fuckin trash, and you don't know enough about LS/VTEC motors to not consider one. This isn't 10 years ago when LS/VTEC was just being thought up and tried, its succesfully done and built to deliver constantly and the LS/VTEC motor built right doesn't bull shit. Learn something about LS/VTEC before you trash the motor that I could own you with, and so many other cars with LS/VTEC could own you too. Go LS turbo then, but I surely wouldn't give that torqueless B16 shit box motor a chance in a teg its a disgrace and should only be put in civics...and half the time it shouldn't even go into a civic.

i wouldnt waste your time w/ a b16 either...opt for something that is more torquey for your DC2 chassis like LSvtec, or B20vtec..or even a GSR swap...b16's are only meant for lighter cars like civics and hatches.....but I'm not saying that the b16 is not a good motor..its a great motor but a lot of money and time would have to be spent in it in order to make it a worthwhile swap for you...

The B16 into a teg would never be a worth while swap...ever.

You could get the b16 tyranny on your LS. It would be pretty similar to a b16a from light to light.

woaa....I wasn't even trashing LS/VTEC first off dude, i would love to have that....I said it was too hard to maintain such as keeping a proper fuel curve, oil, etc etc.....I just don't have the money for the full swap done right....I read in a TURBO magazine that its should be cheaper then a GSR motor but when I went to HONDA/ACURA Specialist shop they said different....so since the B16 idea is trashed I'll try to go with a H22 swap or GSR...But can anyone tell me if the H22/GSR drops right in without me having to buy a shit load of parts (motor mounts, shift linkage, half shafts, etc.) thanks

I agree. My friend had LSvtec done to his car about a year ago and it has run fine. He got it done for about 3500 dollars and it was well worth it. They taped into the block and put a b16 head on it. He just put a LSD b16 tranny on it and it pulls hard with just stock b16 head. LS Vtec is the sh*t. He drives it every day and it's still relicable too. So having LS vtec over a b16 is better off. The displacement makes one hell of a difference without spending a ton of money.

get a b20....b20's should be easy to find..just look for a junked CRV...H22's are meant for larger cars like Accords n stuff...the biggest I would go is 2.0L for a DC2 chassis

You talk like you have the fastest car in the world, I would own you like you would a b16. Try giving more positive information, not jumping down someones throat. Many people have disagreements about the nature of LS/VTEC, some for, some against, and some neutral. He obviously has his opinion, which he hardly even stressed, and you OBVIOUSLY have yours, which you made perfectly clear.

Why you even gonna say that...are you just trying to turn this into a yo my car can own yours bullshit. I completely agree with CGCivic, I wouldnt have come across quite as strong but he made a good point. I wouldnt go H22 either, h series arent built as well as b series and are meant to be in heavier cars like the prelude. Slim, please have at it.

p.s. I will own you both j/k

how come no one likes the H22 in a teg idea....I see that slim9300 has one...so was his car originally a LS or GSR because I see that he has GSR gauge cluster....nice ride though dude, hopefully I'll have something like that soon....

The h22 weighs more than a b16 and b18. It would really disrupt the weight distribution since the car is already 62/38 with the b18. Cars that have 50/50 distribution do very well on a road course generally.

Weighed the car immediately following my swap, I believe it was 37lbs. more then the origional curb weight minus me. And that's with my Optima in the trunk. Not that I really care, but holy crap... 37lbs. for 30 more lbs. of torque. :eek

You like what you are familiar with and the same for me.

We will see about that, I just ordered my T3/T04E 60 trim w/ .63 A/R turbine, Tial 38mm Wastegate, Greddy Type-S BOV, (25'', 7'', 3'') FMIC, and my 2.5'' custom piping, 3'' downpipe and manifold is being done on the 14th by CRP Turbo in Puyallup. I already have everything else. Too bad you don't live in my area, we could truly see the day the track opened back up.
