MSD ignition gone bad

I installed the MSD SCI and external coil about a month ago and up until yesterday it's ran great.
Yesterday it started misfiring and jerking the car a lot as I was driving even at steady throttle. It would rev up to like 6000 (macking scratching noises) and then jump back to 4000 and all over the place vtec kicked in maybe 1 out of 3 runs. Thought it was a ground problem so I grounded the MSD to the battery instead of the frame.

It was weird today it poped like a gunshot and cut off on the way home so even though I had no check engline light on I flashed the codes anyway and the MAP sensor code came up. I reset the ECU and that code went away.

I took the distributor cap off and the prongs behind it were definately a light color blue. So I scraped it off and now it seems to be fine

I'm just wondering what could cause this corosion and maybe some tips on how to prevent it in the future.

The guys at autozone told me that the blue corosion is from too much spark and if thats the case maybe I should call MSD and see what could be the problem if the corosion builds up again

Take the unit off and revert back to stock. Tell me if it goes away or not. If so, keep the stock setup. Many people have had similar problems with the MSD box on Honda's.

The shitty thing about autozone and advanced is that once you open something like that it's hard as hell to return it.

I was under the impression that we don't gain anything from upgraded ignition unless seriously modded. I heard that honda already did a great job with that. Same thing with the fuel rail and stuff like that?

yeah i never understood why you would want an msd ignition. I can see useing the coil. But with the ignition system your gunna have one hot ass burn. We installed one on an automatic accord i thought it was pointless seeing how their was much more he could have done with that money. But he was happy with it and said it gave him more power. I have no clue how.

I was told don't touch the fuel system till you start hitting 170 whp N/A like injectors and pump. And don't even think of touching the fuel rail unless recommended by a professional or you are making some serious HP. And don't even bother with the ignition since there are cars running 400 hp with stock ignition system.
