Muffler question

I'm a little lost here and was wondering if you guys can answer this question. I already have 2 1/2' piping on my teg with a stock muffler and was wondering....is getting an aftermarket muffler going to help with any horsepower or is it just about the look of having one, because i don't wanna get a muffler and it not do any good.

It will help with the airflow, thus creating some more power (not a a crazy amount). You have a good sized pipe running to the muffler and then are juct messing up the flow with a smaller diameter pipeing. If you are going to mismatch pipes, you want to start smaller and end up bigger rather than the other way around. Optimal would be to have the same sized pipe the whole way back. Find a nice 2.5" muffler and I think you'll be happier in the long run.

Actually, if you have the money get the Mugen Twin Loop muffler. It's suppose to not be very restrictive and be very quiet.
Plus you can tell all the ricers that you have a Mugen peice and watch them blow a load in their pants..... hahaha

I can vouch for the Twin-Loop exhaust sound being sweet and quiet. Although I bought the whole exhaust system not the axle-back.
