actualy they dont rust. There all aluminised steel so they dont. Its a lot cheeper casue its not stainless steel. The stainless steel is just shiny. The flowmaster or magnaflow mufflers are only like $70 and there a lot better preformance. All the other mufflers are straight pipe with glass around them to muffle the sound. Flowmaster actualy designs there mufflers, and they help pull the air out.
I would choose the Magnaflow muffler. They are a straight through preforrated core muffler inlike the Flowmaster or most of the Dynomax's (except the race magnums and bullets) they do not rust and sound really good. I have a Magnaflow on my neon with 3" exhaust all the way from the 3 inch collector on the header. It is pretty loud, but sounds good. Chambered mufflers like the Flowmaster are not as free flowing as the Magnaflow. Also stay away from louvered core mufflers........even though they are straight through the louveres create a lot of resistance.
Later, Chris

Originally posted by ck98vteC I wonder which is the better muffler between Flowmaster or Dynoflow, I'm lookin at Dynomax mufflers myself and I don't know which one to get.
Dynomax makes the Ultraflo, it's sort of like the Comptech one.
YES, get DYNOMAX, it has made an automatic dx hatch do things I never thought it could. I'm dead serious I'm pretty confident that my car runs a high 16 with only drop in air filter and exhaust. It sounds low deep and quiet when cruising, but you can hear it once you get on the gas. I once read an article in a sport compact magazine that dynomax is the closest thing you can get to open exhaust without the sound., because the design is good.
Try to get the Magnaflow. I don't know what everyone is talking about cheaper mufflers rusting out. I got a pretty nice muffler from magnaflow for 140 that was polished stainless steel with a pretty nice tip. It looks better than my greddy. Sounds quieter and dynos with the same amount of horsepower. The good thing about Greddy is that you can waste 400 dollars to get it. You get the name Greddy on it or trust and it rusts out in 2 years and coughs it's guts out. I'm sorry I don't feel too good about Greddy its just a waste of money. Magnaflow looks good sounds good and damn well does the job. PLUS UNLIMINTED WARRANTY if it dies send it back and you just need to pay someone to install it
Ya i hear magna flow is really nice. However with the new muffler its best to run bigger pipe to flow more air. However I think Im going to go wit hFlowmasters, casue they do a lot of enginering work to make the bestperformace out of their mufflers
People keep on telling me to design my car exhaust system from the beginning to the end. tuan gave me this article on team integra that explains it all. Don't buy your muffler base on people who has different set up then you do... you need to find someone with the whole set up, that will be the most accurate.

Flowmasters makes a stock replacement muffler for Integra and it's suppose to be quieter than the conventional type. It's call 'American Thunder' series. Has anyone had this muffler on their car, how did it sounds?? Summit sells it for $155.
