my throwout bearing went bad in my civic, not allowing it to engage into gear when the car was on.

I never said the clutch was rusted to the flywheel. I said the clutch had welded itself together not the clutch to the flywheel. it was just an interesting thing that happened to me not meant to say your shit is stuck together.
a couple things I noticed happened when I put my clutch in the mr2 if the throw out bearing is bad it won't go into gear. if the clutch isn't aligned right the tranny isn't gonna go on right. what I was really amazed by was that by torquing the clutch down too much wouldn't allow the flywheel to turn. it was interesting to say the least that mr2 was a pain in the ass to get the tranny in and out. luckily i got rid of it. sad thing is I kinda want another one
the throw out bearing is there to put pressure on the fingers to relieve pressure on the clutch plates so you can shift. if the throw out bearing is bad it won't shift while the car is on. unless you can rev match and shift without the clutch. but everytime you stop you'll have to turn the car off. it very well could be the throw out bearing
