need axle/trans help, new axle won't go in

I've got a 95 Teg SE 5 speed. I'm trying to put new axles in it, but I can't get the passenger side to go all the way into the trans. It's about halfway in. I really don't wanna hit it with a hammer for fear of screwing up something in the trans or the boot on the inner joint. Any suggestions? Thanks

the axle has a snap ring on the end of it, that is probably why you are unable to get it to go all the way in. As long the teeth are lined up going into the tranny just take a dead blow hammer and hit the outer end of the axle to get it to pop in place.

I've hand a similar problem. Like before, a dead blow (rubber mallet) should work. Dont beat on it, but get the axle straight and tap it.

I would also suggest looking into the hole of the tranny, using a flashlight, and look to see if a gear has slipped, but you shouldnt have much trouble.
