Need help buying a Cold Air Intake
I've looked all over for good prices. Looking for one of three; Injen Cold Air Intake, AEM Cold Air intake (Not V2) or a Comptech Icebox (preferred)
I am determined to get one of these for 150 before tax. Any suggestions?
PS: I've looked in the classifieds at Superhonda, searched Google, Ebay. Can't seem to find anythjing under 200.00.

Get a AEM sort ram intake if you want to spend $150. Better than the CAI in my opinion. If you've got the cash and want the best go with Comptech.

got to agree with g2integ, i like short rams much better. they look and sound better imo and if your air filter has the cone opening in the front you can rig up a ghetto version of ram air that looks pretty good too

For your GSR i would get the CAI for better midrange and higher rprm....i had a SRI when i had my old engine (waste of money IMO) for my ITR motor i got the Injen CAI i did alot of research on intakes and it had the best dyno gains out of AEM, Weapn R, Icebox......but if you really want a goooooood intake the Mugen one i heard is the best on the market (but it's like $600). But w/e floats your boat man............

I said this because i dont believe the performance issue is much different. When these are dyno tested that is exactly what they are, tested in an enviorment in which no air is moving. In this case warm air from the engine bay is sucked into a short ram intake. As for the cold air the air is taken from outside the engine bay which would be significantly colder. However under normal driving conditions air is being swirled all around your engine bay from the grill and up from underneath, thus supplying the short ram with fresh air, not to mention the hole in the fender which supplied your orignal airbox with air. IMO an intake should be bought on personal preference, rather than dyno test results

I agree on the cold vs. warm air thing to some extent - tests show that once you're moving, a good amount of cold air gets in the engine bay, although hopefully the dyno shop has a good sized fan or two running. The main differences are actually because of the piping length more than the cold air benefits... shorter pipe = more top end and longer pipe = more midrange in general. However I hope a large part of someone's personal preference on an intake IS the performance of the intake on a dyno... they do show accurate differences.
