need quick answer!

I went to the mechanic today(at the acura dealership) to fix my idle problems- he installed a new distributer and it helped.. a little. anyways, he said I need new cv boots on my car and he quoted me $580.00 canadian installed (for inner and outer boots) that is without the damn joints! holy shit is this a decent price? I did them on my eclipse for half that price.. please let me know if this is the going rate for boots , if not does anyone have any suggestions?

Sounds steep to me. I spent like $50. and did my boots myself.

But, others will claim to just get remanned axles for like $100. I personally don't trust any remanned stuff since I have seen just how poorly it is remanned to keep costs down.

If you have a choice, go to another dealership, maybe a Honda dealer? They tend to be cheaper than Acura and can get the same parts.

Or find a good mechanic that will do it, and most likely for less.

Whats $580. converted from CD to USD?

And exactly how many boots do you supposedly need? And have you actually looked under the car to see the damage?

A.

canadian dollars and usa dollars are pretty close i think, so that would seem to be way too high....and some companies remanufactured is legit....a cv joint is so simple, u could look and tell if it was done right.....if the prices are close between new and reman, then id get new of course....but u could do it yourself if you know anything about it...it's easy and quick when u get good at swapping them

I need the inner and outer boots on both sides... Converted that is about $370 US. That seems a little expensive... I found some cheaper boots for $70 US. I think I will just take them to some small shop to get them put on( I would do it but I have no garage) I mean you can't really screw up putting boots on , can you? Oh yeah now I HAVE to buy my new exhaust, since last night I ran through a rough part in the road ( lots of snow) and my old exhaust ripped right off my car... geeze my luck never ends with this car, maybe I should have kept my eclipse.... nahh. or maybe I just need a newer teg.- yeah a newer teg that sounds nice, maybe a newer type R .... Now all I have to do is go and buy a lottery ticket
