Hmm, dunno if this is the correct forum for this but I have a question for you guys. I graduate this year from HS and I am already promised a job of making $1k a week. But first off I have 1000 dollars on the way soon. So I was thinking of either checking the compression on each cylinder and turboing my ls (I have a 95 integra se w/the b18b1 ls engine). If I dont do that I am going to gut my car and I can get a nice OBD-2 h22 engine. I know an h22 is heavy and it's not the choice of most people but I have never heard of an h22 in an Integra. Im not worried about making it fit because I have alot of people that will be helping me with the swap. But I am curious should I go for the turbo or the h22 in your own opinions? I kinda like VTEC but also the LS engines are great for boost. Also, if I got the h22 I would do some major weight reduction work anyways.

How many miles on the b18b1?
If I were you, since you would prefer having the LS engine, I would stick with that depending on the mileage and the results of the compression test and if it has too many miles and/or fails compression I'd just buy a new b18b1 and start fresh.

113k Miles, I just bought it and I dont trust it too much. But I can get an LS swap with 30k miles on it for like 2k or I can get an h22 swap for the same price. I dont know which one I want more. I even thought about trashing the head and going ls/vtec but I think I would be looking at alot more than 2k.

So basically are you saying that if you have to get a swap you wont be able to turbo regardless of which engine you get?
Because if all you want the LS for is for boost but you cant afford both then Id say fuck it and grab an H22 if you wanna be different.
But then again if you can get the LS swap and afford the turbo then definitely do that, I personally wouldnt trust that engine and it may burn your pocket a little more now but it will probably avoid alot of headaches and possibly having to buy a new engine anyway in the future.

Thanks for the advice man... I never ever drove a car with VTEC yet, but I have ridden in them alot. Ya I kinda want to do something to be different, I mean I have never really heard of an h22 in an Integra and I would love to do it. I would probaly go for a sick all motor h22. I would want to get Cams, gears, all new pulleys, new internals, rip everything out of it (ac and powersteering cuz I probaly will need to to get the engine in), and prob bore it over. I kind of love the all-motor thing allthough turbo is the way to go for power. I dunno I am just looking for opinions. Everyone that I ask about an h22 in an integra tells me why bother. I just want to do it to prove to them that it can be done and make it so its fast. I kinda want a sleeper
LOL nah man its just a part time job until I go back to school for network engineering or programming computers or automotive. I am prob going for automotive and a computer related field too. I might even enlist. But my uncle tells me he will hook me up with like 1000 dollars a month for traveling around and driving his truck and painting shyt. Its an easy job and thats alot of money to get dumped into my car. But I am definetly going for an education too. And I also get paid trips to like Florida and junk. I am trying to get a friend to work with me so I am not lonely on the trips haha. But ya every penny I make is going into my car.
how bout u do a turbo H22....hahahaha that'll be cool............i wish i made that kinda money......
the space is an issue but slim9300 has an h22 which he is turboing in his teg so maybe you could talk to him. I thought you said 1k a week now your saying 1k a month...1k a month is what i make when im out of school. Anyways i got my b18b1 engine for 1k with only 2k miles on it. Personally i would get a new b18b1 like i did and turbo that. If you dont want to do that than i would go with the h22 because i wouldnt spend that much money on an engine with that many miles.
If you wanna be different buy a S2000 swap and make that teg RWD thatd be sweet. if you end up buying the H22 send me a pm I might want your B18B Im in CT too, let me know.
Slim9300 has a H22A in a DC2 integra...personally I'd build the living hell out of the LS motor no need for a new one, just rebuild it, pistons, rods, sleeves, bearings, gaskets etc etc...then run big big stupid boost. :evil

1k a week but it's kinda iffy. My uncle said he will hire me to drive around and paint junk and do basic maintenance needs on different gas stations. But I would be traveling ALOT. I dunno if he can get it for me but he said there is a good chance he can so I said I would do it in a hearbeat. 1k a week is alot of money, and I would love to have it. I don't know, I love vtec... and I love when it hits. But I mean turbo is a hell of alot better than 30 extra hp whenever you hit 5400 rpms (00 Civic Si). I dont know I really would like to do it to be different, but ya I don't know if I would have enough space to mod the hell out of it. I am going to send a pm to Slim now asking for pics and any advice. I am pretty much guaranteed a job of like 14 dollars an hour if I take that cause it's just up the street and I do bitch work, making mattresses and box springs. I dunno, I would love to tell and show all the people around that say h22's are slow and useless heavy engines. And it would be a waste to put it in a teg... I just want to do it to prove them wrong. Plus I think it would be cool to be one of the first around my area to ever have it done.
