New to Integra's, need a piece of advice.. +++ PICS

Check out few pictures on the last page.

Hello.

Here is a quick background:

I used to have 95 Eagle Talon TSi before, sold it, now I am looking at 96 Integra GS-R with 85k miles on it. Manual, Red, looks like in good shape.
Carfax is clean, 2 owners.

I want to go take a look at it tomorrow. Dealer is asking 6k for it. Is it too much for this car? I've looked thru forums, I am looking for something like "Used integra buying guide". Things to look at specifically when buying an integra GSR.

Any advices or recommendations from you guys I'd greatly appreciate.

i grew up around the saying "it aint worth sh!t if nobody buys it for that price"... what does kbb say? how much is it worth to you, that is the real question. people here may say it's not worth it because some of the people here rag the fu(k out their cars, is that one of them? i would say go for it if thats what you want, but if you plan on modifying it heavy, save your money and look for someone local in the forums. you could prolly find a clean gsr around here with some kind of motor issues for a lot cheaper. take your time and dont rush, you want to make sure you aren't paying for something that isn't worth it.... take a camera and get some pictures, i wanna see what they are trying to sell you... engine bay (all angles), undercarrage (spelled that 1 wrong.. i think), interior, alot of people dont think of this... i look in the wheel wells and in that general area of a car alot! i hate cars with dirty wheel wells, it reminds me of chicks that spray perfume instead of take showers..

For 85k and if it's truly in good condition, I don't see why it's such a bad deal. Comparable Civics go for that much all the time.

Man Canada is retarded. For that car you would have to pay at least 7K... at least!

Amen to that. At least the dealerships are starting to drop the list prices by 3-6k to get closer to the American prices...but it's still ridiculous. Our dollar is at par with the US dollar, and yet cars are at least 25-30% more expensive.

come on man, seriously, you think no integra is worth 6k? man, stop the hating already and buy your self a teg, you know you want to. you can even throw in that sr20 that you love so much. anyway, i think 6k is alright if its in real good condition, having 85k and being a 96 is pretty impressive. if you were going thru a private seller than i'll try to hit'em up with 4-5k. but if its a dealer than i dont see you paying less than $5,500. i payed $8,300 for mine and it was way above mint condition. anyway, good luck and take a good look before you jump in and drop the dough.

Yeah that doesnt seem that bad for a gs-r with low miles in great condition. It hard to find a honda that hasnt been ragged.

I didnt think that was a bad price. I would probably get it as long as its in good shape and motor runs.

Thanks for the replies

Hey again guys,

I appreciate your replies.

I just got back from a long trip, a trip to take a look at that 96 GSR.

It took a lot longer to get there than I expected, so I only had very limited time to actually spend with a car.

Unfortunately, no pics, however here is what I came up with:

Body: Usual tear and wear, few door dings, minor scratches here and there. 7/10, good shape.

Engine: Engine bay looks clean. No oil leaks from the top of the engine bay, however I've noticed some area covered with oil from underneath, the area near a plug to drain oil. It did not drip though. It did smell like burnt oil in engine bay after the car run for 10 mins, maybe cuz it was sitting there for a while. Also oil T gauge rises very slowly, the car was running for 15 mins and it only moved 1/8th of the way. Normal?

Engine while running: Started up just fine. No any additional noises. During a test drive though, at around 3100 RPM there is some kind of resonant vibration going on, and it goes away at around 3200 RPM. Anyone knows what that is? Belts looked pretty old. Not sure if t-belt was ever replaced. How much does it cost to do that on integras?

Tranny: Shifts well. Clutch is working ok, however during one "launch", rpm rose and it felt like tires were spinning, however there was no tire scream and the car didnt really pull in 1st gear. Clutch slipping?

Suspension: Makes some noise on the bumps, and weird barely-heard redundant noise that comes from the back right wheel, it goes with an interval of 1 second, like as if the tire was rubbing on something, but its a lot longer amplitude and really slightly heard.

Interior: Mint, other than moonroof is failing to open (allthough it does attempt to go up and gets stuck halfway)
Rear windshield wiper does not work.

Thats about it so far, what do you guys think? I've talked to the dealer, he is rock solid on the price.
