Noob with '90 5 speed LS, any suggestions?

Hey guys. This 1990 Acura Integra LS 5 speed is my first import, and I'm still new to the import world so I'm going to need some suggestions about what to do with my ride, mainly engine/trans/turbo. I have ideas set up for the looks, but I'm too under-knowledged to know what type of engine I should use for a good turbo engine. If it helps any, I plan on keeping this car as a daily driver, but I do want it to have the power for that occasional race, and also do a good job of looking very nice. Aiming for a horsepower range of 350-450, and I don't plan on doing this soon due to being broke, so money isn't an issue, I can save up any amount. I'm told that a sleeved GSR b18c would be best to work with, but I am also told that my car comes with a b20 and could handle a 6lb boost stock, and could be sleeved, new blockgaurds/pistons, and a few other mods for more boost. Any help you guys could throw at me would be greatly appreciated, any questions just post it. And remember, I'm an import noob, so keep the hardcore modifications to a minimum, I kind of want to do this on my own, no sense having someone else work on your project right?

Just wanted to add a bit more. My integra does have rust, and when I find out how serious it is, I'll be looking for replacement parts. So far, I could use a new trunk lid/hatch. Color doesn't matter, painting once body work is finished. I also need the door lock assembly for the driver door, the handle/keyhole is coming off of the door, and the key at times will not work. If you or someone you know has these parts, leave a link if at all possible. The junkyards around here suck, and the nearest decent one is about 2 hours away, and there are no guarantees with those places. Also, I need a good website for carbon farbor interior modifications. I plan on a new dash with carbon fiber accents, and I'll need a good site for white gauge faces that are indigo blue. Carbon fiber/indigo blue are the main things I am aiming for as far as the interior, still undecided about floor/seats. Black exterior/blue underglow. Thanks for your time guys.

okay first off, nice choice. i have a 90 ls as well.

hmm where to start.. 350-450 hp is a high goal, only achieveable through forced induction, so it's good that you're looking into turbo. it didn't come with a b20 though, that's a crv motor. it came with a b18a, which is really closely related to the b20 though, and also has that boost-friendly low compression ratio. if you're just picking numbers out of the sky though, i think you'd be surprised at what a fun daily driver you could have if it were to be put on a diet and pushing more like 250 whp and a nice fat torque curve. when tuned properly, you can run more than 6 psi on a stock bottomed ls motor.

you can build your own turbo kit, or grab one of the ready-made ones offered by the various aftermarket companies. i highly suggest you visit our turbocharger forum and read as much as you can. there are some very knowledgeable people in there. you will of course need to upgrade most of your fuel system components, and a hondata or aem ems is always worth looking into to keep all the air/fuel in check. a nice 2 1/2 or 3" exhaust will be vital, and you'll probably want to stiffen up that soggy 1990 "luxury sport" suspension as well.

you will be well on your way if you save up enough to get all that shit i just listed.

as for the looks thing, i humbly suggest a set of JDM 1 piece headlights, some nice lightweight 16" rims, a CF hood & lip and maybe some JDM side molding and that's it. clean is good. btw what color is your car? any pics?

also i love this forum and have learned a ton here, but i refer all g2ers (1990-1993 integra owners) to www.g2ic.com because it's a fairly large community that deals strictly with our generation of integras and if you search around the forums, there's not a question that hasn't been asked (that i've ever thought of). also there are some great write-ups in "teg tips" on the front page that may give you ideas to get started on your project.

check the classifieds at g2ic for the body parts you need, and if you can't find what you need there, i'd suggest a daytrip to some junkyards so you don't have to pay out the arse. you don't really need a guarantee with body parts, if they're straight, they're fine. you can find any gauge faces you want on ebay. please stay away from neon underglow (just my 2 cents). also if you go with blue it's highly illegal as blue lights are reserved for police usage.

I don't think your 450hp car can be a daily driven car.

Heh, just bought my first "part" for the integra, white guage faces that glow blue, 30 bucks. Good price considering I can pick the color. Now I need a CF hood, cf lip, 1 piece JDM headlights, all new shocks/struts, new trunk lid, rims and tires. Plus a bit of body work and the exterior will be done.

The motor thats in your damn car is a great motor to boost. live in the turbo tech forum here on SHO, read all you can, and build your own turbo kit, fuck that turbonetics crap etc etc build your own. Oh and as for looks here you go, tho theres much cleaner thought I'd show how my DA looked lol.

My LS/VTEC G2 Integra

My car its a POS, you sound similar in mindset "All Go No Show" but when I read white faced gauges, screw that shit get the motor and what not built first.

Well, I installed my new gauges today.... No more clear gauge cluster cover, no more fuel gauge needle. I don't have a clue on how to fix the fuel gauge thing, can anyone help me out?

Get a new gauge cluster from the jyard and don't ruin it installing ricer parts. Just my opinion.
