OBD MESS!
My car started its life as OBD2. The previous owner turboed it, and converted it to OBD1. But while it was having its timing belt done, the guy that did it noticed an OBD0 resistor box. What the heck is that in there for? Why would someone need to use that, and should I get rid of it? The car runs well, except for a shakey idle that only appeared since the belt was done. Suggestions?

if you install DSM injectors or an aftermarket peak and hold injector you need the resistor box.

What the MOD said. It doesn't mean anything but the fact that the injectors are of a differnt impedednce requiring a resistor box. Even if it were an OBD2 resistor box, it doesn't really mean anything but the fact that the injectors are of a different impedence, peak & hold instead of the factory saturated ones.
It was turboed so thats pretty much a clue right there for the larger injectors.

I had DSM blue tops in there, but i was under the impression that he took them out. If the car is now NA with larger injectors and a talon fuel pump, does that mean that Im running really rich?

depends on what you have for a fuel management system and if it was retuned after the turbo was taken out. the fuel pump doesnt matter. that just makes sure fuel is available. Its the ECU that tells the injectors when to opn and close that controls the ampunt of fuel going in. Now if you have a stock ecu with 440cc injectors your ecu thinks you have 270cc's so its opening and closing like you have 270 cc you are getting close to twice what you should.
my guess is if they switched out the injectors they disconnected the box and forgot to take it out.

It is wired up. Should i take it to a performance shop and have them figure it out? A dealership wont touch it.

You'd have to figure out what kind of injectors you have. if they replaced them with peak and hold injectors you will still need the resistor box.

Another thing i was wondering about is my idle. Since i got the car back from the timing belt job, its had a very inconsistent idle. It has light little pops every second or so. Could resetting the ECU fix this?

What are all the parts i need to convert it back to stock, and how much will it cost? Is there anything better to do other than stock if my only mods currently are I/H/E? I plan on going turbo, so ill keep the DSM parts. But for now, i dont want my car ghetto rigged. Will i feel a loss/gain in power after switching back to stock? Im assuming that im running rich now based on the carbon buildup on my back bumper.

you'd need an obd2 ecu and stock injectors. I think the clips are different on the obd2 injectors

Id like to keep it converted to OBD1, but with stock injectors (stock OBD1). What about wires and such to eliminate the resistor box?

I just heard back from the shop that its at. The car is running insanely rich, and in no way should have passed emissions. Its an OBD2 car, but if its OBD1, it shouldnt pass emissions right off the bat because there is no OBD2 plug in. Should I get an OBD2 ecu and injectors, or just get OBD1 injectors, and keep it OBD1? What else was swapped when converting it to OBD1?
I hate wiring.. this shit confuses me. The car is running so rich i thought it was burning oil and had them compression test it (only to find a healthy motor).

I would say get an obd2 ecu because no one wants them so they are cheap and it will make emissions testing easier. you are gaining nothing from having an obd1 ecu. all that is switched over is the ecu and you have to install a harness to go from the obd2 conctors into the obd1 ecu. so just take that out. as for the injectors get some oem obd2's those are probablly cheap, too, because everyone takes those out when they go turbo.
