Odd Speedometer Problem (Lags behind)

So my speedo is fine when accelerating.

But when I'm slowing down (say from 60kph), and I press on the brakes until I hit around 20kph...the speedo is still VERY slowly coming down from like 55. Once the speedo hits around 30ish, then it starts coming down faster, but it really lags behind at the speed I stopped accelerating to.

Any ideas?

I'm not sure but I would say check your basics. Check for proper connection, cable length and such. Or could just be a gauge problem...

I'm thinking it's purely mechanical and would require yanking out the cluster. It's now just sticking wherever I left off at...and then after about 3 seconds, it responds and comes down.

Well, im not sure what the 94+ body style like yours is like, but its purely mechanical for my ride too ( 90-93 ). That is an odd one. If you can let me know if it is all mechanical I'll stop by my local junk yard and check out any 94+ tegs, but i doubt I'll be of any help. Just let me know if you need a part cause I have a lot of junk yards around me.

lol thanks, but with my schedule, my Teg is now in storage until January 1200 miles away. So it will have to wait. I'm in the process of trying to nail down a purchase of a 35,000 mile 2002 WRX.
