hey guys, u im not sure if this was discussed earlier or not but, one of my freinds wanna run mobil 1 synthetic 5w30 in his car. problem we live in chitown and sometimes it does go below 20F although he gona change his oil when i get warmer anyway. what i wanna know is if the temp did drop below 20F w/ that oil waht would happen?

ok, first, 5w30 has a greater temp range than does 10w30. i usually use 5w30 in the winter and 10w30 in the summer. i think basically 5w30 does all of the upper temp range just like 10w, but it can be used at lower temps too down below 0F i'm pretty sure.
plus, i use that oil right now. and i'm not having any problems.

edit: last week it was 6 degrees F.
