opinions on O2 sensors/gauges please...

i currently have the AutoMeter A/F gauge and a stock O2 sensor.

i was wondering if anyone has used aftermarket O2 sensors, such as Splitsec, or a better type of gauge other than the basic AutoMeter for reading the A/F ratio??

i would like to get a more accurate mixture reading and swap my O2 sensor out, if it's bad.

thanks for any experiences or related experiences.

It's not that your o2 sensor isn't working, its that stock o2 sensors typically output various results in direct correlation to the exhaust gas temperature. If you are under boost, and running a richer mixture such as 12.5:1 then I would say spend the money for a wide-band o2 sensor. Your stock o2 sensor is going to be the most effective somewhere around the 14.7:1 range, although as I said earlier the output voltage reading will vary in relationship to the exhaust gas temperature. A wide band o2 sensor can more accurately display A/F ratios from 10:1-20:1, and I believe they operate on a 0-5v scale opposed to the stocks 0-1v reading.

If you have the autometer gauge I am thinking of (the one with the circular lights) you should be fine.
