this morning, when leaving work, i ran through a puddle by accident, the car stalled. i got it pulled out of the water, and let it sit. at around 2:30pm, a co-worker tried to start it, nothing. then i just came in at 11pm and tried to start it, nothing. i yanked my cold air intake off, and there was a tiny bit of water on the throttle body plate. i yanked a plug and there was water on it.
now that i know there is water in there what is the next step i take. i'm guessing, drying off my plugs and trying to start the car would be bad if there is any water in the cylinder. any ways to get the water out without taking the head off? i'm at work, brought a few tools with me, but taking the head off for the first time, wouldnt be good here at work.
any help would be great. thanks

ok, so i sucked up some water, quite a bit i guess. i pulled the plugs, they are wet. so then i cranked it with the plugs out, and tons of water squirted out. im drying the ports out where you put the plugs in, and i'm going to let it sit for a while then give it a shot later on. hopefully it works.

yah, it turns. i just popped my plugs back in, going to let it sit for a little bit and try it in an hour or 2. hopefully i got most of the water out, it stopped shooting out the top, and i tried it again with papertowel in there, and they didnt get wet. hopefully it runs, after this is all over, I will get an suv or something to drive when the weather is crappy.

just got back from work, car is still there. still water in the cylinders, just a little bit though. i'm going to go back there later, with a blowdryer, and dry it out. and i'm going to do an oil change. this will be fun, all in my jobs parking log.

Take all the plugs out, and crank the car over until there is nothing left, dry the plugs with a towel or get new plugs..then put em in and try to crank em, i'd actually take a look at a possibliity of changing your oil while your at it, probably got some water in there...car should crank over after you dry the plugs and push all the water out.

you got a good idea of what to do, after something like this a oil change is pretty much a must..and let it all drain out.. all of it.

Don't go doing anything extreme like buying a suv for the rain. just run a short ram instead of cai if you can't figure out how to drive around the big puddles...

yea losing the cold air intake for something more "stock" seems like a better more economical choice than buying an SUV.

Takes 10 minutes to swap mine over each winter.
