Question on stereo system..

Ok so i have a 96 integra and the battery is kinda small. I was just wondering if i hook up 2 12" rockford fosgate 1000 watt each sub and a 1200 watt amp to a 1 farad capacitor would that be enough not to dim my lights while parked in a parking lot or driving? Or do i need a 2 farad cap?

Capacitors in a car audio system have a real purpose, and its not to prevent your lights from dimming or take strain away from your charging system...

Traditionally, a capacitor is used in a car audio system to minimize voltage drop at the amplifier and thereby improving transient bass response at moderate to high volume levels.

A capacitor is simply a storage unit that has the ability to discharge very quickly in bursts to supply the amplifier with sufficient power during these peak transient signals.

If you are using it for dimming headlights, it is considered a "band-aid fix." The real solution is a more powerful alternator.

in all honesty.....a caps a cap. so ya....a fosgate digital would be fine. 1/2 farrad to every 500 watts rms. 1 farrad to every 1000 rms.

Another thing that really helped me was upgrading to a Optima Yellow Top. Unfortunately I don't think Optima is making the Group 51R's anymore so they might be hard to find, but I can run my stereo for an hour+ and she starts up beautifully.

civcep3si is on a distinguished road
another good fix for dimming headlights is upgrading your factory grounds. if you just take 4 gauge wire and replace your engine to ground, battery to ground and alternator to ground you will notice a significant difference in your electrical components
