Questions about getting 17's for my car...

Ive got neuspeed sports and I'm thinking about getting some 17x7's on 205/40/17. When i got my alignment done after the lowering my caster/camber was in specs. If I get those wheels and tires, will I need a camber kit? Also, I found a calculator that says if I get a 205/40/16 for every 1000 miles I go, I'll actually put 1044 miles on the odometer. is all of this info correct?

not sure about the miles part, but it would be better to get a camber kit anyway. because you did lower the car about 2 inches from stock height.

Yes definitely get a camber kit, with the stiffer sidewalls and 2" drop you'll have problems....

The mileage thing is correct, your speedometer will read high too. This was the case with my old 195/55/14's instead of 60-series. That's with 205/40/16's though, aren't you getting 17's? In that case, 205/40/17's (as well as 205/45/16's, which is what I'm running) will be a little larger than stock, so your speedometer will read low (actually probably not, with mine it still reads a couple mph fast, most cars do from the factory) and your odometer read low too. Not a huge deal though. Also remember, bigger diameter and circumference equals effectively longer gearing, my 16's are both heavier and larger in rolling circumference than my old 14's with 195/55's on them, and it's definitely slower with the 16's. :

I completely agree with Derek, if you are going for looks the 17s are great, otherwise don't go above 16" for performance reasons. I have 17s currently and they look great but I am going to sell them for some lightweight 16s for slightly faster acceleration and less wheelhop. Try to maintain the stock circumference when choosing a wheel/tire combo, this will let your gauges be as accurate as they were intended to be. If you do go with 17s, get 40 series tires, I am running 45s now and they rub quite often. It didn't happen with my Yokohoma Parada Spec 1s, but the Spec 2s have stiffer sidewalls and they cause quite a bit more rub on sharp turns.
