If he is circle track racing then he needs a motor that can run in the high rpm range. There is a girl around my way that races a four door teg on a dirt track with a b18c1 but it is built not heavily but it screams they did some head work cams, springs, retainers, port etc. Also they changed the gearing in the tranny to something ridiculous like 4.8 or 4.9 final drive
I race at a track in Canaan, NH. We did end up kicking out the wheels for some camber. I'm going to take it to the track tomorrow to mess around with it and see how well it turns now. Hopefully it works in my favor.
swap if you can, drop in filter, clean up the engine meticulously, and aside from looking into all ITR suspension, you should look into some polyurethane bushings too. oh, and maybe a short shifter will help you out.
if you want to keep it stock... strip the interior... HAHA!!! and get some ITR suspension.. take out the a/c, the cruise control... if you really want to handle. also drop it on some strut/shock combos, get an alignment afterwards... front rear/strut bars, a 6 point roll cage harness, some bride racing seats/takata, and an helmet... you might be just good to go

this is kinda hard when we don't have the exact rules..
but a roll cage PROBABLY just won't fall under "stock"
There is a roll cage in it and the interior is stripped. I added some camber to it, but it seems like after about 10-15 laps of green flag racing the right rear just doesn't want to turn. I have a spring rubber in the right rear and just put a 10lbs spring rubber in the left front. Just gotta keep plugging away I guess.....

Thats a sure-fire way to figure things out, and what mods or changes to a car you should make. Good to see your out racing.
