Removing Rear Speakers In a 96 GSR

My question is how do you take out the rear speakers? Do the grills just pop off and you can get to the speakers? I am installing my componet set and need to get at the rear speakers. Thanks Guys

the grills do not pop out. i just moved the panels out a bit. but to do it right, just take the entire rear panels out. it's not too bad

good luck

In a dc2 the grills DO POP OUT. I use the seatbelt buckle and put it in on the side towards the seat and pop them out from there. and you can get to the speakers that way. I know they pop out because ive switched my speakers back there countless times. You can either use a flat head a big one or the seatbelt buckles thats back there already. You jam it in from the back side the edge closer to the seat.

It's real easy to do and should have no problem doing it without popping the pannel off? I do reccommend slightly popping off the pannel to put the speaker in because i had a problem getting it in through the hole where the grill was. The speaker was bigger than the opening.

i did it by putting the speaker through the hole but it was really hard... the speaker was too big... to do it the right way move the panel out a lil or just take it off totally

Thats exactly what i had mentioned before you can do it either way through the hole if you dont mind stretching the plastic or pop of the panel slightly and put it in there and screw it back in through the hole where the grill goes.

I also have a question about the speaker removal. I'm wanting to get some for the front and back. Can I just replace the speaker its self or do I have to replace all the wiring?

You can do just the speaker but you will have to put those clip ends on the wiring since the stock wires have gray clips on them. The ones that come with the speakers themselves.

I've got a 98 Ls and mine don't 'pop' out. Or maybe I just haven't tried hard enough, but I stop b4 I give it enough force to break something.
When ur talkin popout... pop out straight up or pop out to the left/right/forward? I'm just afraid of breaking something if I go to pullin and yankin.
