The right I/H/E for 97 SiR

What's the right combination of I/H/E and brands to give maximum output?

Would a V TEC controller be useful?

intake - aem (cold air)
headers - dc, greddy....
exhaust - apexi, greddy

it is Vtec not V TECH,
and yes it can be useful if your car has Vtec, which yours does, you are basically programing when the Vtec engagement rpm begins

When you go all bolt-ons, you have to remember your only gonna get like 10-15 HP max, mainly at top end. Every car responds differently to the same mod, no car is exactly the same, so there really is no "greatest combination"...pretty much most brand name stuff like Apexi, GReddy, Tanabe, DC Sports, etc. will give you about the same. Personally, I like Apexi. They have good workmanship in their products and perform well enough that their parts have lasted me 3+years without failure.

Alright cool. I know different cars would respond differently. However can it be guaranteed that a CAI or exhuast system for my SiR will give me that performance.

Oh by the way I plan to go low 14s when I am through with my mods.

If you put a CAI, you will make HP, but in a different part of the powerband, mostly midrange to top end. There is a spike in performance when you use the CAI, around 4500 or something I believe? I'm not too sure. But yes, you will gain HP with a CAI, it's a positive.

You won't get low 14's with i/h/e.

The stock ignition is fine, I don't think you'll gain any hp there. You're probably looking at mid to high 14's at best. A 97 SiR has ITR gearing I believe. What kind of i/h/e depends on a lot of things. Do you plan to stay all motor or go for turbo/sc later on?

Do you know if you're going to switch cams later down? This will affect what setup you get.

If you don't plan to go any further than i/h/e, then all you need is a straight through design exhaust, dc 4-2-1/comptech 4-2-1, aem cai/injen/icebox intake. Swapping the cat with a high flow cat is a good idea. You'll need an exhaust that is 2.25" in diameter.

If you plan to get much more aggressive cams, upgrade to higher compression pistons, you need a different setup.
