tech wrench Roaring Wheels

'94 Teg LS, 176K, original axles and cv joints. Now I know they probably should have been changed by this point. But my question is about the roaring noise. If I just go ahead and swap out the whole axle is there any advantage to that over trying to just doing bearings and cv joints? My knowledge is limited here, but if I swap out axles would that take care of cv joints and wheel bearings all at once? I just want the roaring to go away. Any help would be appreciated.

The roaring sounds like your tires to me. What kind of tires do u have? And Replacing the axel does not replace the wheel bearing. You can check ur cv joints by looking to see if the boot is ripped. If its not than more than likely its fine but if it has ri[pped and slung all the grease off its toast or soon to be toast.

to change wheel bearings, u need to have the new bearings pressed in and out by a shop, unless you have a press. and those axles are really easy to change out. if u want i could send u some detailed directions to do it yourself

Falken Ziex = Tires. I don't think it's the tires..but it could be. Checking CV joint boots at my friends shop on his lift. I am going to be looking into the bearings in the next week or so. Thanks for you help!!

you need to rotate your tires every 3k miles or they could start cupping, that makes them vibrate and make noise.
