I am having a problem with my 1991 integra rs. it has an auto tranny, and when ever i am at a stoplight and the car is in drive the rpms drop and the engine idles roughly. Does anyone know what this could be - I would really really appreciate some useful suggestions. thank you!
yeah so today, I went and got my fuel filter changed , my plugs replaced and my
injectors cleaned... the problem still exists
while I am in drive and at a stop... so i dunno what to try next... I mean the idle isnt that rough, but enough to rattle the dashboard and the seat a bit.. this car hasnt been driven hard -the mechanic said maybe this is what 91 integras with auto s are supposed to idle like..any usggestions?
I had the same problem with my 91 civic but still couldn't get it fixed. The honda dealer told me that it could be the throttle body not getting the right mixture or it could be a bad engine mount. Hopefully you fix the problem and post what you did to fix it.
at what rpm is your integ idling at when you are at a full stop while your integ is in drive? is it fluctuating really bad?
bad motor mounts would cause your engine to shift around during acceleration/deceleration, and transfer more vibration into the rest of the car... but contribute to a rough idle, i don't know...
i noticed when my teg is in drive at a full stop, it idles at ~700 rpms. something to consider...
rev below 1k at a full stop... in drive... sounds about right.
if you only have 65k on your motor, then the motor isn't the culprit... maybe a bad engine mount is causing more engine vibration to enter the passenger compartment...
and with the age of your car, it's likely that you'll have some loose panels and dashboard sections... which will amplify the engine vibration...
so are you sure you're not confusing a rough idle with loose dash rattling?
and is your teg's idle fluctuating, or holding steady?
i went out today and surveyed my car for the problem again..the idle does not bounce around it stays pretty constant @850rpm. I guess it could be that since my car is a 91 it will not be as tight as a newer car(dash, panels etc) so maybe a bit of vibration is normal. The mechanic I saw said my engine is running 100% fine now that I changed the fuel filter, air filter, and cleaned the injectors... so maybe i will just live with a little vibration at stoplights(it doesnt seem to vibrate once I start rolling down the road)...
I dunno ..
