Question Running no exhust just header

Is running you car with no exhaust just the header bad for your motor. Will it add or take away any horsepower.Just wanted to know cause my friend is running that in his gsr hatch. He has a cat on there now and he says it feels slower.I told him its just not as loud.

running open headers is extremely loud

the reason for exhausts is to 1. quiet exhaust noise and 2. to filter out hydrocrabons etc. via catalytic converter 3. vent exhaust gases away from the motor and passenger compartment

a cat causes restrictions no matter what kind it is (thats why people hollow cats or even run open headers) so yes he will see a slight decrease in power but this way is legal and less of an annoyance

tho v8 open headers are fun to listen 2

yeah it is faster with just headers, it's not bad for your car unless you don't have the headers on there either. It'd be best just straight piping it though. or you'll have all kinds of fumes going in your car when you are on a stop light and it sounds nasty.
