short shifter??

Can some one explain to me what a short shifter does? Does it give smoother more accurate shifts? How much does it cost to install.

man do not waste your money on a short shifter. i had one and it gave me problems. meaning misshifting, etc.... the stock shifter is perfect for your car. honda knew what they were doin when they made the shift linkage that lenght.

So a short shifter wouldnt be any better then the stock Acura shifter???? Cause i was think of buying one this weekend, I just need to know if its worth it. I really wouldnt mind shorter shifts but i dont want anything thats gonna make me mis shift a lot.

I would stay away from a shirt shifter and spend yoru money elsewhere. Its not gonna make you any faster and it will most likely hit your exhaust, cause mishifts and maybe even wear out the synchros. Your stock shifter is fine

i would go with one. it is inexpensive and easy to install. go with pace setter if you go with one. imagine the stock gsr throw and cut that in half. that is what the pace setter did for me.

its up to you if you want it or not, but is cutting your shift necessary mean its better? i dont think so man. after putting back my stock shifter, i never had a problem misshifing again.

I like the feel of a short shifter, it makes your car feel more aggressive... but I realize your point - smooth shifting is often quicker than fast shifting, as Bondurant points out in his book. Smooth consistency is worth more than sloppy speed in his opinion It's up to you...

For me, once I got used to my short shifter it was just as easy, if not easier than shifting with the stock shifter, and I haven't had any problems with it, nor do I miss shift anymore than normal. I like the feel of it myself. Its really not a big gain of anysort, so In my opinion its really just a matter of preference for your shifter feel.

i think that a short shifter is a waist of $$$. i just took a hacksaw and cut it where i wanted it to be and then just rethreaded the shifter, work and looks great... plus it was free!
